Climara "Stickin" and options

Hey all of you. It has been almost a year since I was here (became an avid member and got dumped in the server issue" ...

Since August 2003 I have used Climara .05, due to research I did. Bio-Identical and transdermal seemed better than the Premarin nightmare my Dr wanted me to take. So far so go, except in the past month or so, I feel like my patch "poops out" after about 5 days instaed of the seven. Dr says not to go to higher patch ... whats me to take a pill. NOT ! IF I A HAVE LEARNED NOTHING FROM THIS EXPERIENCE AND FROM THE WOMAN HERE, if you can make transdermal work, and use bio-identical HRT .. the odds are better we will be better off. (My sister just has breast surgery after a hysterectomy 2 yrs ago and taking Premarin)

My questions are these for anyone who can help:

Im getting just a bit of nigt sweats. The Dr has suggested HRT to include testorone .. is that not avail in patch form of some type. I'm loving that I dont have to take a pill that has to travel all thru my body to work. Has anyone tried just changing patches every 5 days instaed of 7? What about ViDot? Isnt that twice a week?

Great to see you all again ... and thanks for any imput.

It could be that your body is using up the patch faster than the allotted time frame. It is not unsual at all for some women to have to change the patch sooner than the allotted time. If your doc will allow you to try changing at 5 instead of 7 than it's worth a try. If it takes care of things, than it was an easy fix!

I'm not sure why your doctor suggested testosterone for night sweats??? Are you having libido issues?? Energy issues??? JMHO but I wouldn't opt for testosterone if your main problem right now is night sweats.

Yes, Vivelle Dot is changed twice weekly. The patch is also much smaller than the Climara and I have heard good things about it.

There isn't a testosterone patch for women available yet but one is out of clinical trials and is ready for FDA approval. It's called Intrinsa from Proctor & Gamble. The testosterone I use comes from a compounding pharmacist and is in a cream form.

As (((Kim))) said, testosterone wouldn't be the hormone of choice for eliminating hot flashes.
