when can i dance again?

I would love to know as well. I will have to miss the first couple of weeks of class (most likely) unless the doc gives me the go ahead....

I would love to know about this...

dancing again

I'll post when I've had my post-op appointment on the 19th and let you all know what the MD says. I'm sure it'll be slow going since, at least with ballet, all movement stems from the gut. However, I am starting Lady Jane's exercises and have been doing foot flexors and circles (while laying down) to keep my ankles and pointe flexible.

One thing I've learned about any exercise, is that after an illness, injury or surgery, is to go all the way back to your beginning and work back up. The big difference is that you progress much more quicly than before!

saw doc yesterday, oops

I still have my appointment for the 19th, but yesterday I got to make un unplanned visit to MD to have a staple removed that somehow got missed at the hospital a week ago (go figure...). He thought it was a gerat excuse for me to get out of the house...

I told him about Lady Janes exercises and all he said was that I was not to do ANYthing that required me to clench my tummy muscles or bear down for at least 2 weeks. I'll still ask him about ballet on the 19th.

Until then...

on hold until after 6 weeks

Saw MD yesterday. Still told me not to engage in any activity that causes clenching of the tummy muscles. I'm beginning to think it's going to be at least 2-3 months total before I can go back. For now, I'll just stick with walking and Lady Janes.

By the way, what can you do when you can't walk (because of weather, say) and walking in your house isn't really an option, but you WANT to do SOMEthing? Any ideas, ladies?
