Endometrial Hyperplasia

Just talked with my dr. office. I had sent them a long, detailed letter with all my questions in it. I asked the np who called whether they were OK with a letter, and she said, "Yes! It's great. Then we're prepared much better with answers for you."

One of my questions had been what the indications for my hysterectomy were. She said fibroids, anemia, heavy bleeding, and endometrial hyperplasia with atypica. Just wondering if others share the endometrial hyperplasia. As I understand it, the type I have is a pre-cancerous condition. While a hysterectomy isn't necessarily indicated, it's a stronger reason to do it than the fibroids alone, because it means that ablation is less effective. Am I right here?

I was also told that there would be no bowel prep (I should just come into the hospital fasting on my surgery day) and that I should expect to stay 3-5 days including the day of surgery.

Endometrial Hyperplasia

Hi,

I don't have any personal experience with this, but if you click on our Resources at the top of the page and do a search by putting in endometrial there will be some information there to read.

I hope this helps and maybe someone will come along with personal expercience to answer more questions.

Endometrial Hyperplasia

Hi,

I too have endometrial hyperplasia. Although I did not have Atypical cells, it is still bound to come back without any action on my part. My uterus is so enlarged with the endometrium that it is as big as a football. I have irregular and heavy bleeding as well. I also had hyperplasia of the cervix when I was 18. So now, they are taking both the cervix and uterus. Since I did not have the Atypical cells, I am not forced to have the hysterectomy, but added to my other problems it's been recommended by 3 gyn's.
I also was told by my doctor that if I did have hyperplasia that they could not do the ablation. You are not alone. Good luck
with your choice.

.....I hope for no bowel prep. too, pre-op is the 14th.....
