Ovarian Cancer Concerns

Hi,

I had a TAH & BSO on 10/2/03 for several reasons: I had 2 abdominal surgeries during the previous January, then I had a fallopian tube rupture in February where they found several large cysts (Larger than the ovaries) which had not been there the previous month. They lanced them, but said pathology was fine.

By April I was feeling significant pain again, they did an ultrasound and said the cysts were returning but still too small. The pathology from the February surgery found Cerval Dysplasia CIN-II, so they did a cold cone. By September the abdominal pain was so bad I quit work, and we decided to have the hysterectomy, between the pain, the cysts, and the displaysia there seemed to be no reason not too. The cysts were back, but according to the Dr, the pathology was "within expected parameters"

Well, it has now been about 6 months and the pain is back harder than ever. It is lower right & left quadrant pain, with occasional across the region cramping. Last week I started not being able to eat, because after even a small amount of food (Especially at night) and I feel like I have eaten a whole thanksgiving turkey. I have to lay flat because I am so full I cannot inflate my lungs all the way. This goes away after about 2 hours.

I went to a new doctor yesterday and she said that I do not have to worry about further cancer, and that she doesn't see any benefit to performing a diagnostic lap, that the pain is probably just chronic and that I would need to see a chronic pain specialist. As far as the eating, she said that is outside of her realm of expertise, and that she treats reproductive parts, which I no longer have.

Well, then today I read that I could still get ovarian cancer with no ovaries, and I think about the cysts that kept coming so big and so fast, even though the path reports said they were not a big problem. I am a little afraid and I do not know where to turn, or if I even need to be worrying. Does anyone have any experience with stuff like this?

I do not have anyone to talk too, as my "girlfriends" seem to be afraid to even look at me, like it might be catching. And my husband doesn't ever know what to say.

If anyone has a moment to give me some guidance, I would really be grateful. Thanks

Ovarian Cancer Concerns

Hi Spirit,

Is the doctor you are seeing an oncologist/gyno??? If not, please make an appointment with one and get a second opinion. They are the only true experts in this field.

Did they ever do a ca125 blood test?

I hate when doctors just shrug symptoms off. You obviously have some concerns and you know that what you are feeling is not normal for you.

Please make an appointment on Monday for as soon as possible. This way you can either put all your fears and concerns away or you can attack it head on.

Let us know how things go.

Ovarian Cancer Concerns

Hi Spirit,

I just love it when docs decided something is out of their realm of experience so just forget it....yeah right! Truly, get an appointment with a gyn/onc, almost all insurance will pay for second opinions. You are not imagining anything...but, we all go a little cancerheaded when struck with symptoms that lots of women have who have no cancer. Some things are normal, but in light of the fact you have had a gyn condition, it is prudent on your part to check out the symptoms. Hopefully all is well....then you can relax.
Hugs, Sally
