Who took care of your bladder matters, Gyn or Urologist

I feel stupid and confused!
I was under the impression that the Gyn would take care of any bladder matters, like tacking it up or what ever. People I know that have had hysterectomies told me that the Gyn took care of that during their surgery. So I Just "assumed" that's how it would be!

Well thank godness I asked! My doctor said, I have to go a Urologist, see what he says and maybe have test. He told me that, that is the way it use to be done but now the GYN goes in does his job then the Urologist goes in and does his right after.

I have a leakage problem when I sneeze, cough, or bend over sometimes.

My surgery may have to be rescheduled now!

I just don't know what to think now! Is this all Doctors now or just mine?

Any info please!

Angry - Who took care of your bladder matters, Gyn or Urologist Who took care of your bladder matters, Gyn or Urologist

Hi Melba,
i 'm sorry to hear about all of your bladder problems,
i too have a bladder problem's! i had my hysterctomy in december, of 2003. i since then have had 4 bladder infections and now this one came back negitive.. they now think that my bladder needs to be tacked up.. because i sometime's "loose " control when i sneeze ,cough ect... i first went to the gyn then she refered me to a urologist... he did a "inside" bladder ultra sound and said the bladder contracts too much and probably needs to be tacked up....
he told me to go back to the gyn and now they are schduleing another surgery.. i think it's pretty routine you know... i'm kinda glad that they will both be "in there " because the gyn can do her job and if the bladder is in trouble the urologist can do his...
Good luck with everything! Lynn

Who took care of your bladder matters, Gyn or Urologist

My gyn never mentioned anything about the bladder prior to my hyst. I wish she had. I now have a Uro/Gyno who has handled bladder issues.

Who took care of your bladder matters, Gyn or Urologist

I have a gyno for Endo and a Uro for Interstitial Cystitis. My gyno said he can "tack" up the bladder, but from what I have read the bladder can, and probably will, fall back down. The uro can do a "sling" to hold up the bladder. I am scheduled for a hyster Aug. 4th, I am meeting with my uro this Wed and hoping that they can coordinate. I hope things work out for you. I feel like I go back and forth between my gyno and my uro constantly and wish they could communitcate better. My surgery was suppose to be done the 2nd week on June, but now I have to go through 4 weeks of bladder injections (instillations) first. If you can get your Dr.s to coordinate, it would help out your situation a lot! Good Luck

Who took care of your bladder matters, Gyn or Urologist

Well, ladies my GYN set up an appointment for me tomorrow with a Urologist. I hope this does not delay my July 19 date at the Castle! I know it's best to get this taken care of now but, I just want to get this over with. I feel like I am on an emotional roller coaster right now!

Thanks for your imput!
Mary

P.S. If anyone has any suggestions on... What questions, I should ask the Urologist? I would appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
