Endometrial stromal sarcoma

Somehow my message got posted without all the info. I am to do a CAT scan right after 6 week checkup. If nothing shows then oncologist says we will do nothing since uterus is gone.

I have an appointment with another oncologist after the CAT scan for a second opinion.

This cancer is fairly rare so anyone with any infor on this would be most appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

Endometrial stromal sarcoma

Hi Gillsburg,

I was diagnosed with Low Grade ESS in March 2004. My doc said if you have to get cancer this is the best one to get. It is very slow growing. I had another surgery in May removing my cervix, ovaries and lymph nodes...did you have everything removed or just the uterus? I'm taking Megace (pregesterone) to keep the cancer under control....apparently I will be on that for the rest of my life. I really haven't had any side effects from it.

There is a Sarcoma Alliance website that you might find interesting....I think it's www.sarcomaalliance.org

There are also some Sarcoma support groups out on web but I find the Hyster Sister site to be the best for Cancer info and support in general.

Good luck and hang in there.

Endometrial stromal sarcoma

I had everything removed. We had no idea of this was only having surgery because the fibrods had started growing. I am 51 so Dr. decided to take everything out. My lymph nodes were not check or taken out as the Dr. seemed as surprise as I was to find this.

I will know more after CAT scan and visit with 2nd oncologist but I really feel as if the lymph nodes should be removed or at least biopised. What do you think.

Thanks for all the web sites they are great.

I would think your doc should try and take a couple of your lymph nodes and check them out. That is one of the places it spreads too. Maybe they are waiting to see what the CT Scan will find.

Let me know how it goes. Oh, and go with your gut feeling...if you want them to take a biopsy I would ask for one.

Endometrial stromal sarcoma

Ladies their is a group on Yahoo for Ess and I found them to be very helpful with all the latest up dates. Just go to groups and look for ESS and ask to join. I found them to be very comforting along with all my hyster sisters also! First I was diagnoised with possible LMS are Ess . That is how I came about the Yahoo group. I don't have either. I have a rare kind of cancer called PEcoma which if it comes back is treated as a sarcoma.
