I am trying not to panic

I know you say never waste a good panic, but, well..... I called my doctors office today to see what my pap results were. I hang around and hang around no call. I go to visit my dh's ex (she also has been having the same problems I have had, cervical cancer, and a bladder that is falling apart) and come back to find a message on my answering machine, that they had found some atypical cells YIKES AGAIN and that she wants to d a colposcopy on me.

I knew it was too good to be true that I was finally cancer free. I wish I could curse on here but I don't and wouldn't want to.

I wanted so bad to finally be "cancer free" and dreaded this appointment (June 2003 was when I had my last recurrence).

As Charlie Brown always said. Well, don't waste that good panic because you haven't even had the colposcopy yet. Hold it off until you get those results back--and maybe you won't need the panic at all. What a disappointment for you--but let's wait until you get those results. It may not be so bad as you are thinking.

I am trying not to panic

Jane, I am so sorry to hear this news and praying it turns out to be something non cancerous. I was scared in March when the Dr wanted to biopsy a spot in my colon, but it turned out to be scar tissue and hopefully that is what these atypical cells are.

I am trying not to panic

(((Jane))) I know it is easier said then done but please try to hold off any panic just yet. I too will be praying that the final results will show there is no cancer. I hope the testing can be done quickly as waiting is always so difficult.

I am trying not to panic

What a bummer! That's kind of an understatement because I'm sure you are highly concerned. But Ellen's right--it's not time to panic yet. You have to do the colposcopy first. And the word atypical is not necessarily the same as abnormal. So hold the panic. I had a PAP with atypical cells about one year after my TAH, and the colposcopy and scrapings turned up nothing. So, I'm crossing my fingers that the same will happen for you, too.

'ing for you.

I am trying not to panic

Jane - I know it's easy to say try not to panic - because in your shoes I probably would be a bit nervous too.

Hang in there - I am praying for a normal result for you.

HUGS to you.

I am trying not to panic

Dear Jane....I am so sorry that the news was not what you wanted to hear. I am even more sorry that you had to hear it on your answering machine. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
