OVCA Chemo ?'s

Wow, the replys to your post have been so good for me too! I realize I'm quite normal. I just finished my 3rd Chemo, and really, they (our friends responses) are right. It's do-able. I have 'roving' pain, moving around, but that makes it ok, because I know it won't last where it's at. I am 44 and pretty healthy (except for the little matter of the cancer). I am finding the chemo soooo much easier than I imagined before! You can do it! Eat healthy, drink lots... Keep a positive attitude.
I'll be praying for you! I am reminded of you as I see baskets everywhere!

Thanks so much for all of your responses, it helps so much !!!!

Another stupid vain question ???????

I have worn acrylic nails for years...they make me feel so much better....have any of you ever had any problems with keeping acrylic nails on during chemo.....i'm just wondering if your nails get real dry causing the acrylics to become loose?

If so that's fine, I can deal with my stubby littler fingers....i was just wondering if any of you had been thru this?

As far as acrylic nails go I believe that would be a NO NO.

Mainly because of the chance of infection.

I use to work in surgery and they would not let us (scrub tech) wear acrylic nails for the possibility of passing an infection on to the patients (even with a good hand scrub and two pairs of gloves (my personal way))

I could be wrong and some doctors may allow them, but that JMHO.

God Bless

Hi Lori,

Sorry, no experience with acrylic nails but my normal nails seem to be holding up just fine - even surprisingly well.

Yesterday at the treatment room my neighbor was also being treated for ovca and getting Taxol and Carboplatin. She was complaining about nausea, etc. Thinking about it later, I realized that she wasn't eating anything or drinking very much. I think that's a mistake.

Early on I looked at the nutrition guidelines at the American Cancer Society's website and John Hopkins site and since then have been eating lots of vegetables, fruits and making a point of eating protein at every meal. I think eating nutriously has made a big difference.

Hope that helps!
