here I go again

Well, I had to go in for surgery, again, I had my TAH Right side ovary in March 2003.
Last week I had to have the Left ovary removed as well as a rectal seal repair. I certainly knew what to expect from the Ovary coming out, (been there done that), but this repair has thrown me for a loop. I guess I was expecting a sore butt, not a sore vagina. The stitches pinch, poke and throb. I have used ice packs, peri bottles to spray it down, soaked in the tub for a week now. I can bearly sit for any length of time. I have not had a BM yet, and am very afraid to. I'm afraid to push to do damage to what I had repaired. I was on stool softeners at bedtime, but found I was very nauseated in the morning and would throw up. Now I am just using lots of water, fibre, prunes etc. waiting for the big moment.
How long will these stitches last (they are dissovable) and will relief come soon.
This is not much fun, but boy can I spend a lot of time making my nails look good (HE HE HE)

here I go again

Hi Rachelle,

I had a LSH on March 31 with vaginal repairs. I too was taken aback from the pain..........I had stitches hanging and was so swollen it was hard to even think about having a bm.......
The stool softners also did not agree with me, so I used Milk of Mag gel tabs, they didn't upset my stomach and really made it easier for bathroom time. I also used a low stool to put my feet up while sitting "on the throne".
I came across this idea while crying shortly after surgery sitting miserably in the bathroom and my 4 yr old brought her step-up stool, "to keep me company", she said and after she left I just put my feet on it and having a bm was alot easier. I really dont know why it works, but it has helped me. I also used hot washrags right on the area, the heat was so soothing. I hope this helps.
