Something New!

Hay Hystersisters:

I need your help. I'm 11 wks. post op. and something new started last night at church. When I laugh my stomach hurts to the left side of my vertical incision. When I push on it with my hand it hurts. It's weird and hard to try to explain over the computer but I was wondering if anyone had this happen to them? Do you think things could still be healing in there?

One Idea

Donna, when you go back to your doctor again, ask him or her to check that area for a hernia. That's where I got mine. If it looks a little puffy, that's another sign. But be sure to check with the Dr. to be sure.

Hi Donna,

and yes, you could very well be healing but I would check with your doctor just to be on the safe side.

To make a long story short, my daughter in law, an RN, explained to me that when they do a hyst the doctors actually take all of your organs that are in the way out and place them besides you. They then perform the hyst and gently place everything back inside.

It does take quite a while for everything to find a new home for itself and rest comfortably. Even though your outside incision is healed, it could take many months for the inside to actually heal.

Be Well and get lots of rest.

Something New!

When your hernia was found, did you have to have another surgery for it? The thought just scares me to death! I'm just now starting to feel good from the last surgery. If you had surgery to repair it was it a bad surgery? I wonder if they can do anything else for it besides surgery?

I went ahead and called my Oncologist because it started bothering me so. I mean not the pain but the thoughts going threw my head I was wondering if I had a cancer tumor growing or something. I know it sounds crazy but my mind started running away with it. My Onc. office said take two ib profren three times a day and if the pain is still there on Monday to call the office to be seen. She (the nurse) did mention hernia and asked if I had lifted anything heavy. I told them no. She also said it could be tissues still healing inside or scar tissue moving around. Not sure what that means....thanks for listening.
