Hi Ladies feel bad as ive not been around for a few days and ive not been giving my support to anyone but ive had a bad few days.

Eversince i posted how much better i felt it all went down hill so im not going to say that again i do not want to tempt fate lol

I had one great day where i was feeling so good and was peeing for England :-) that was monday i think.....then in the night i went down with a nasty UTI and had to go see the emergency doc...now that was an experience!! I took my list of medications with me so he would know what i was on and he started asking me what they were....ermmm whos the doc?? and then asked why i was on all the meds especially the HRT i looked at him and said ermmm cos ive had major surgery....it wouldve been scarey if id not seen the funny side to it all...i really must pay my way here and do a journal you ladies would not believe the things that have happened to me!!!

Anyway im rambling here....the UTI really put me back and had to stop trying to retrain my bladder but as of yesterday i was told to clamp my cath again and start again and boy did i have a good day ive never peed such good ammounts they said if i carry on like that the cath could be out by the end of the wk end *fingers crossed* hence why im up at 4am typing here cos ive just been woken by my bladder.

I had no idea recovery would be like this i honestly thought it would be just a case of gradually improving everyday its tough at times but im really hoping ive now turned a corner and hopefully the worst is now behind me.

So ladies im back and hoping i can be of help to someone else again.

Missed you all

Hi,

Sorry you have had some problems right after your surgery. I too thought I would feel bad and have some pain and it would be less and less as I got further out.

I had this thing, and that and finally it all got balanced out and I got better. The way I describe my recovery is one step forward and two backward.
The thing is, that this is major surgery and I thought it was not going to be any kind of problem after , but we never know. We just pray for the best and do what we can do to get better. I was thankful nothing I had to overcome was serious. Most complications have a medical solution and you get the help to get it fixed.

I hope you get better soon and it gets smoother for you.

Hi,
I had a UTI at one week post op. I went to the ER also, not knowing what was happening, but knowing I needed to be there- my first er visit ever at age 51! I'd just had a very difficult 1st Bm and had clammy sweating, nausea and pain. The er doc got a little rude (I thought). He said, so you had a Bm and now you're in the er! After doing tests he found the bladder infection and his tone changed. He started IV antibiotic and phenagin for the nausea. All the poking around made me have a huge BM and the nausea and sweating stopped. Still don't know if the symptoms were from the URI or BM. Still mad at the doctor for making light of my symptoms. Guess that's why he's an ER doc- no bedside manner or compassion for patients. Sorry, I'm sure most ER docs are great. It has to be a hard job. My hosptial was a small one. Had to vent!

I'm sorry your situation has led to all the interventions you've had. Mine cleared up with the antibiotic. Hang in there!

Laughing Angel,

It's good to hear from you - sorry you've been having so much trouble. UTI's are a b%$#@ - hang in there, and let's hope it's smooth sailing from now on!

Hugs,

Leslie
