Surgery finally scheduled

Hi everyone,

Well after 5.5 weeks of waiting, I finally have my surgery scheduled! It will be next Wednesday July 28th at 7:30 am. I am so ready to get this done and behind me so I can get back to a normal life (what is that anyway??)

I have my pre op this Thursday so I will talk with the doc then about everything he plans on doing. As it stands now a Uro will do my bladder biopsy and hydrodistention. The GYN will do the rectocele repair and probably the cystocele also. Then I want him to do a lap to see about taking down some adhesions and possibly removing my one remaining ovary. They said to expect a 2-3 day stay in the castle.

Any advice from the ladies who have had A/P repair? I have had an episiotomy before so I know what to expect with that....I am just a little worried about pain management post op since I have been on pain meds for so long now.

Thanks for listening

Surgery finally scheduled

(((Becky))) I'm sure you are relieved to, finally, have date

I had a rectocele repaired at the same time as my hyst and can tell you that pain from the incision was a bit more than the pain from an episiotomy. Most likely because the incision is a little deeper. However, the pain was easily managed with extra strength Tylenol right from the 3rd day post-op.

Do be sure to ask for peri-bottle: when filled with hot water it brings instant relief when you use it to spray on the incision's site. If the castle doesn't provide you with one of those, you can use a plastic condiment bottle: it does just as good a job.

An important thing to remember, especially where the rectocele repair is concerned, is to avoid straining. This includes avoiding constipation. I managed to do that, despite my IBS, by eating fiber-rich foods, drinking plenty of water, at room temperature, drinking one glass of warmed prune juice a day and walking.

Sending lots of healing s your way. Hopefully, this will be your last surgery.
