am 9 days post op and wondering....

im feeling better than i did last week..

..all i had done up until tonight was go for coffee, and to walmart in a motorized cart..wellllllll,i got tired of my house being a disaster, and my hubby works 14 hours a night..i didnt sweep,mop,vaccuum..i did some dishes,2 loads of laundry..(i did not lift laundry baskets,i just put clothes in the washer little by little, then on the bed,bit by bit)..ill fold them, put away little by little..i really just "picked up"the house..im not even bending to pick up and change the litterbox!..hubby can vaccuum , sweep, and mop this weekend..my question is this..am i doing too much or too little, being 9 days post op??
..i do not want to sit on my hiney 24/7,but i definitely do not want to hurt myself any by overdoing,either..it does feel good to be up and around walking, even if its around the house,to put things away, and pick up stuff..im leavin trash for the hubby,too..i see my dr monday for a post-op,and im going to ask for a very specific list of what i can and cant do,from 2 weeks post-op to 8,when he said ill be pretty much given the green light..but until i do see my dr.,any input and advice is greatly appreciated..

Everyone is different, but you sound a lot like me when I was around 10 days post op. As long as you don't lift, pull or push or even bend over and up suddenly, you should be ok. Let your body tell you. Sounds like you are going about it the right way, I mean some things can't wait. Laundry piece by piece is very slow but I did that too.....good luck in your recovery!

Two suggestions - if you're taking pain med you might want to decrease it. When I take Tylenol I feel pretty good and then tend to overdo and don't notice it until the next day. I'm actually back at work already so that'll give you an idea of how much I 'overdo'. My surgery was July 2nd.

The second suggestion is one I learned from my doctor when I was recovering from a car accident. He told me I could do things but to stop BEFORE I felt pain. This is actually very hard to do. For example, if I wanted to weed the garden I shouldn't keep on going until I'm tired and sore but stop while I still feel good. Make sense? Less chance of feeling bad the next day.
