Cervical Cancer - Cancer Free - Colposcopy??

Gyn said I would need to come back in three months to have a colposcopy and will do so until he feels I am "clear" and able to go every year for my pelvics and every three years for my paps.
I had cervical cancer and the surgery left me cancer free.
Anyone else go thru this? I forgot to ask why I would need to colposcopys every couple months. DUH Any ideas?

Cervical Cancer - Cancer Free - Colposcopy??

I too have cervical cancer or is it had??? Well any way, I have paps every three months and when they come back abnormal (like this past one) I have to have a colposcopy as well. ( I am having one done on August 2) I guess that your doc is skipping a step by just going for the colposcopy.

I would assume that your doctor feels that the colposcopy is more accurate than the pap in determining if there is a recurrence. And that is the reason for the colposcopy. A colposcopy takes a little more tissue than a pap does and it gives the pathologist a little more to go on.

Have you had radiation and or chemo?? I have had radiation and chemo and I blame the radiation (or is that hope) is the cause for the abnormal paps. What stage were you --- CINIII, Stage I or beyond?? I was a stage 2b, and had 25 external treatments 2 external boosters and one internal LDR (low dose radiation).

Here is a site that describes what a colposcopy is:What is a Colposcopy?

I Hope that this will help you.

God Bless
