I've been browsing this site for a couple of days now. My mother has to go for a TAH (removal of ovaries, uterus and maybe lymph nodes). She went to an oncologist who said that she has a 25% chance that it is CANCER, and won't know until he is in there. What should I expect, I'm totaly freeking out, her surgery is next Thursday and her thyroid number is high.

Hi Kitlady

I'm so sorry to hear that your mother is having to go thru this. Waiting is really the hardest part.

Please make sure that your mother's surgery is being perfomed by a GYN/ONC. They are the only Dr's to have whenever cancer is suspected. Just be there for support for her, and encourage her to visit this site.....please keep us posted on your moms progress.

Hello Kitlady,
glad you found this site, there is a lot of information here.
The waiting is the worst part, my surgeries were not to bad, I had my husband and mother help out around the house while I was laid up the first week. Don't let her do to much when she get's home, that will only set her back. It might be difficult for her to let someone take over, but you have to be firm.
If possible go with her to the appointment and write your questions down. I don't have any info on thyroid's, please ask her Gyn/Onc.
Take care, Andrea
