11 mths post hyst for endo, 8 mths of endo pains returning

Hi ladies

Sorry I haven't been around much lately, I hope your all as well as can be.

Im feeling very down atm, had TAH/BSO sept 2003 and jan 2004 had endo pains return! my gp and I think it was the black cohosh I was on that flared it up as I didn't want to take hrt cos of the oestrogen feeding any remaining endo. Anyway, since then is has just got worse and worse and Im now at the stage of being in as much pain as I was pre-hyst which is extremely depressing and demoralising.

Im back on co-codamol, voltarol and diayhdrocodien (sorry bout spelling, LOL) and I just about manage to do my job from 1pm - 5pm and the rest of the day is a case of sleeping when I can as I never sleep through the night cos of the pain and having to rest, so at the age of 30 Im probably doing less than somebody of 60!

I have been referred to an endo specialist and am awaiting that appointment but I was wondering if anyone else who had hyst mainly for endo has had any reoccuring pain???? I have the same pains as I used to which is a severe ache on my left and right side, around the ovary area (if I had any) and going down to the area were ya knickers sit at the top of ya leg, hope that makes sense. I also have pulling sensations and stabbing pains but these are on and off not like the ache which is there all the time.

I hope someone can help, although I also hope that no-one is suffering like I am atm.

lots of love
ems

Emma,
Distressed to hear of your distress.

Emergency Doc diagnosed me with Endo last Sept after 16 years of back passage pain, flooding, swelling. My regular doctors had diagnosed constipation and twisted bowel and advised me to eat loads of fibre. I had a laparoscopy in Feb, but the doctor did not find anything, but advised that I had a total hyst leaving the ovaries, since my periods were generated from the uterus and this should stop the majority of symptoms.

However when they went in they discovered the Endo was rife in the back of me - uterus ovaries, bowel cervix all stuck together - endo swimming around everywhere so they took ovaries and uterus - had to leave cervix as they couldn't separate it.

The doctor said removal of ovaries was good thing because it was the action of the ovaries which stimulated the Endo to act. I'm only 2 weeks post op, so am just waiting and hoping that it is as he said - they had to leave considerable "chocolate" stains on my bowel because they were scared of doing damage, but he did assure me that my endo symptoms should no re-occur where there were no ovaries.

Let me know what your endo specialist says - I would love to be prepared.

Dylan
