How long will this last?

I had a tah in late December 03.
8 weeks later I had another abdominal surgery to repair damage to my bladder from the hysterectomy. I hear sometimes that happens; other organs can be hurt and it happened to me. I have done everything exactly the way the doctors have ordered and yet I still have alot of pain. The area around the incision is still very tender. Sometimes it hurts to bend over, walk and having sex is next to impossible because of vaginal dryness and pain. My DH and I have only been "together" twice in the last 7 months. Afterwards I am in so much pain...We have tryed lubricating gels and still, I hurt.
My hormones have been changed 4 times already and I still have terrible hot flashes. I am on the highest dose of Menest, 2.5mg a day. The last 3 weeks have been a nightmare due to chronic constipation. I am swollen, bloated and misserable. Mostly though I am frightened. I have heard that sometimes scar tissue can grow on other organs, including bowels. I have an appointment with my Dr on Wednesday but until then I don't know how to cope with my fears. I feel as if there might be something terrible wrong with me. Is this normal? Is it just my "hormones?" Thank you for listening ladies. Any advice would be appreciated. I don't know what is normal anymore. My body doesn't feel like my own. Up until my hysterectomy I have been a healthy woman. Now I am 36 and feel as if my body is failing me. Than you again. Christine

How long will this last?

(((Chrissy)))

I am sorry that you are having some problems. I am glad that you will be seeing your doctor on Wednesday.

I had my LAVH 2 1/2 years ago. I had more surgery about 9 weeks ago to remove my right ovary. My doctor also found and cleaned up numerous adhesions on my bladder, bowel, liver, and colon. The adhesions in addition to the ovayry and the complex cysts were causing me great pain.

I hope your doctor has some answers for you. Let us know how the appointment goes.

Chrissy:

You are doing the right thing in seeing your doctor. Pat yourself on the back.

How to cope with your fears? I can tell you what works for me is getting to work on the problem. First, I would write down all the symptoms including duration, what makes them better/worse, how long they appear and last so that nothing is left out. And, I would prioritize them in order of which symptom is the most troublesome to you ....what can you live with and what must be fixed.

Take that information with you to your doctor so that you can make sure he/she gets the complete picture. Its really hard to remember everything when we are upset.

Luckily for me, my doctor is really good and figuring out what is going on by asking great questions because a couple of times I was in there it was all I could do to keep from crying, much less remember what I wanted to say. Writing things down and planning what I wanted to say has helped me tremendously to keep my emotions in check.

Best wishes to you and please update us after your appointment!

while you wait.
