Halfway through radiation...

Just wanted to check in with my "sisters" to let you know how my radiation is going.

So far, I have completed 17 of 30 treatments. It is not bad. I am having some bladder issues, though. I have burning and frequency that are not an infection, but rather radiation-induced cystitis. Needless to say, I am never far from a bathroom. It does cramp one's style, though, if one is accustomed to going out!!

The radiation oncologist put me on Pyridium. It does help somewhat, but I don't know how long I can take it. Hopefully they will let me take the Pyridium until the radiation is over, because I am very uncomfortable when it wears off.

I hope everyone is doing well. It is very busy this summer with the DK's at home. I have to stand in line to use the computer!!

Halfway through radiation...

Linda,
I have been looking for a post from you! That is a great picture. Glad to hear yopu are half way thru the radiation, and that is isn't too bad. The cystitis soubnds very uncomfortable and i hope you will be able to stay on the pyridium or another medication and that your bladder settles down after radiation. Hope you are enjoying summer despite these treatments

Halfway through radiation...

(((Linda))) Thanks for updating us. Congratulations on reaching the post-halfway mark. I hope you can stay on the right meds to quiet the bladder and get rid of the cystitis. May your remaining chemo treatments continue to wipe out any nasty cells as you move toward a healthy future.
Please try to enjoy the rest of the summer and drop in when you can steal some computer time.

Halfway through radiation...

Hey, Linda, so happy to hear from you!!

I had 28 external radiation treatments and I know how tough it is.

I also had the radiation cystitis and was given Pyridium. Oh, miracle of miracles! The relief I felt was just like angels singing! And then, one day, when I was on my first "refill" of the prescription, I put the package on the kitchen table, left the room for a short while and came back some time later to see my dog chewing on the plastic bottle. She got through to pills and ate about half of them. Nothing was salvageable!! Needless to say, the dog was almost homeless that night! I had a hard time explaining what happened to the doctor on call and getting another prescription!

So if you have any dogs, keep them well away from the pills!!

Good luck to you, Linda, and let us know how you're doing. Stick close.
