estrogen only with Endo??

I had STAH/BSO 6 weeks ago, lovely Dr had to leave cervix due to severe endo and adhesions, also had adenomyosis in one third of the uterus.

Consultant suggested leaving HRT for 6 weeks for residual endo to settle, and now wants to try Fem seven patches, but hasn't suggested Progesterone therapy.

What has got me really worried is the information on various sites indicating that residual endo can become malignant if I take unopposed estrogen.

Has anyone got any info or advice on where I should be looking for a straightforward (!) answer??

estrogen only with Endo??

Hi The Femseven patch does contain a synthetic progestin, so using progesterone with it would be redundant. Here's a link to some information about Femseven:

IMHO it might be a good choice for someone with an endo history.

I hope this helps!

estrogen only with endo??

I had a tah bso back in Feb. I had had endo for years and when
I went for an ultrasound a mass was found behind my uterus.
After surgery I was told the mass behind my uterus was a
"chocolate cyst" ( an endometrioma ) that was the size of a
Nerf football and my remaining ovary was the size of a grapefruit
( It turned out to be something called hyperplasia ).

Both were noncancerous, thank Heaven. My Doc told me, though,
that I could not go on hrt for 3 months because any remaining
endo would grow because of the estrogen. If I waited 3 months,
the remaining endo would pretty much dry up. She told me that
any remaing endo would not turn into cancer but that she
wanted me to go on a lowere dose of estrogen because of the
risk of growth ( which could lead to surgery down the road).

Hope this helps, Phyllis
