Surgery Update

Hi all,

I had my TAH one week ago today and am doing much better. I lost a lot of blood during surgery and had to have two units during surgery and two more units a day later. But, I got to come home on Saturday and have been doing fine so far. The doctor called and said the pathology report looked good. I had originally been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma in situ. I had the LEEP and Cone on June 29 and it came back with unclear margins. The oncologist recommended a hysterectomy for that and because of other gyn concerns. The path report this week showed a few signs of dysplasia, but no other spots that had turned cancerous...PRAISE GOD.

I feel very relieved and am now just working on following doctors orders regarding recovery. It's hard to "lay low" with two young kids at home!

I will have my post op on Aug. 27 and then many pap smears over the next year. I told my doctor I'd come everyday if they asked...I just don't want the cancer scare again!

Thanks for all the support you've given!
Sherlyn

Good News

That pathology report is indeed good news. Insist that you're taking it easy and that's that! I know it's hard, but take all the help you can and go slowly. It's major surgery.

Congratulations on a clear pathology report!

Please take care of yourself. You may feel good but things are still healing on the inside remember a hysterectomy is major surgery.
