I'm 1 week post op and doing o.k. Hurting today.
I have a question for you. In the evening when I go to bed I feel a tightness in my upper chest, close to the shoulders, I only feel some relief when I sit up. I don't know if it's the pain meds (which I only take at night) or if this is common after anesthesia- would you happen to know?

I dont even pretend to know! If you are still under your doctor's care - I would definately bring it up to him asap.

discomfort

I haven't talked to my doctor yet but my friend had a hysterectomy about 2 years ago. Her doctor told her that during surgery they have to push the intestines up under the ribs and as time goes by everthing starts to 'shift' back into place. Although I didn't take my pain meds last night and I slept better and no pain.

Hisjewel maybe see how u go if it happens again phone your dr.

Maybe it's from the op - or maybe it's the pain med u could be slightly allergic to it? Your doc will know.

I hadn't heard about pushing the intestines up - I thought it was the bladder that got disturbed and the bowel.

I pray u recover beautifully just remember get lots of rest and have a chat to your doc if u're concerned about anything - one quick phone call : )

I think you should call your doctor! I don't pretend to know!
But, do you think it is possible that maybe you pull something trying to get up! After surgery we tend to use different muscles.
I always like to hope that it is the simplest thing!

Do ask your doctor that is what your paying them for!

Good luck!
