Hi, I was reading some of the posts and I'm a little confused about controlled top panties and swelly belly bands.

I was given instructions that I was to wear only loose fitting clothing, only cotton panties and no panty hose for six to ten weeks. Is that info from the hospital wrong?

i think each surgery is different. call doc and ask. i was fitted for the surgical binder the night of surgery since i was oozing a lot of blood from my incision ( not supposed to). they told me i have to wear it all the time until doc says i can take it off. some people aren't fitted for anything. i would ask doc. nurses at hospital gave me different instructions than the doc (they disagreed on some things). i went with docs instructions mostly. the weight restrictions were the only place i didn't follow doc-he said i could lift 30 lbs, but that is way too heavy-hurts. nurses said not to lift over 5. i found 5-10lbs to be very comfortable. good luck! dee

Yes ask your doc.

I had a TVH and at 13 weeks post op I still can't stand anything around my waist, tummy or my groin area unless it's looooooose.

Quick healing princess!

Hi blueheart;
I agree, ask your doctor to be sure. When I had my c-sections I had a binder and they told me to wear control panties when my staples were removed but, after my hysterectomy I was not told to wear them. I did try some thinking I would need them but they were way too uncomfortable then! Just regular panties were fine!
Best wishes to you!

I had a vertical incision, and was not given any instruction, I have only worn loose fitting clothes.
I'm 4wks and having to wear running pants to work for comfort.
I didn't realize how snug my clothes were preop until I tried to get back into them post op!!!!!!
the swelly belly doesn't help either.
the abdominal support my depend as well on a persons weight &
body build. I had internal stitches with steristrips on the outside not staples.

Thank you so much ladies for letting me know your thoughts. I thought that maybe I should be wearing something to hold my tummy in. However if anything even rubs against my stomach it stings.
