Very Concerned

I am very nervous because my LAVH w/possible ovary removal is scheduled for Wednesday, 8/18/04. I am only scheduled for an overnight stay in the hospital and I am afraid that is not enough recoup time. I have been trying to get as much information as possible. I was diagnosed first with PCOS and then adeneomyosis after having a LAP to remove an ovarian cyst. I just unsure of how I should be feeling right now.

One night stay is not unusual

Hi - I'm scheduled for surgery the day before yours. My doctor has said that I will only stay one night as well. From what I've been reading that seems to be the standard if everything is being done vaginally. I don't think you said what type of surgery you were anticipating. Anyway, just remember that if you don't feel up to going home you should speak up - everything's negotiable. But don't borrow trouble either - I really hope to be home in my own bed after one night. I can rest much better here than there. Best wishes - hope you do great!

they won't send you home until you are doing pretty well, so don't worry! insurance approves additional days if docs say they are needed. i only spent 2 nights after my tah. i was really happy to go home and sleep in my own bed! if you are running a high fever, or not passing the other little tests you have to pass ( i couldn't leave until i had passed gas), they will keep you longer. the days are just an estimate barring any special needs. good luck to you! dee
