It's Human Papilloma Viruses (HPVs) a microscopic wart virus that can cause major itching and discomfort until it is removed and it's very very very common, more like an epidemic really.
I'll post a thread to it here... http://www.ppct.org/medical/services/sti/hpv.shtml
Maybe do a google search and see what you can learn about it... maybe it's not that tho maybe it is?
Your gyny would have to check your vagina with a special light or solution etc to see if it's there to begin with, some times they don't remove it, as it disappears by itself when your immune system is healthier. Some times they do a radical diathermy of the area, like a light burning to remove it. (Had it done twice a long time ago.) tho the itch was sooo annoying and the surface actually felt abit painful as well.
