Has anyone just had part of their cervix removed

I haven't talked to my dr about this yet because my 2 week check was more about why I was throwing up. After the TAH the dr told my dh that he had taken part of my cervix. Does anyone know why they would only take part? or what that means? I will talk to him at my 6 week but I was curious. TIA

Has anyone just had part of their cervix removed

I had tah/bso 7/26/2004 and she left part of my cervix. My Dr. said in my case anyway it was because part of my cervix was connected to my bladder and would be more of a risk to remove it. She said because of large fibroids and 3 previous c-sections I had a lot of scar tissue and that is why the cervix attached it self to the bladder. I do know I have to still have paps and the good side is she said it will help my bladder form falling (what ever that means?) I hope that helps a little.

Has anyone just had part of their cervix removed

Actually that helps a lot. I have had 4 c-sections and large fibriods so our situation was similar. I also know that I had a ton of scar tissue, enough that he refused to reuse the section scar and spent 2hrs cleaning out the scar tissue, so yes that was extremely helpful thank you.

Has anyone just had part of their cervix removed

Hi Listy

I had my op on 03/08, TAH & BSO my surgeon told me he could only take part of the cervix because of difficult access, due to pubic bone and also would cuse bladder problems, he also said would have to have smears still and tha ton 6 week check up , would be careful (not sure if I completely took in everything he said) , I am going to put together a list of questions for my 6 week post op and will let you know.
