other hysterectomy options for cervical dysplaysia

I am due to have a TAH in November with both ovaries left in. I was told that I can't have a vaginal hyst because I don't have enough cervix left for them to grab a hold of. My only medical problem is severe cervical dysplaysia for the last 2 years. I have had too many biopsies to count and 2 l.e.e.p. procedures done and 1 cone biopsy done. Does anyone know of any alternatives for me? I have been told by 2 docs that there isn't anything left I can do but hyst. Any new knowledge would be greatfully appreciated.

Hi Sondra Has either DR mentioned the possibility of a trachelectomy? That is a surgical removal of just the cervix. It's rather new and not all DRs would be experienced in performing it. Here are a few links to more information about the trachelectomy option:

There have been a very few women here who've had this procedure... you might try doing a search on the word 'trachelectomy' on this site. If it turns out it's an option for you, I'd suggest posting a question over in our Cancer Concerns forum for more information on personal experiences with the surgery.

I have almost the same problem.
5 years ago I had cone biopsy. No problem after taking Estridol and Prometrium. So no bleeding, feel fine.
This spring Dr. found out I have no cervix left, heald together after the surgery. So he can not do PAP smear, so he wants to do hysterectomy.
I dont know why?!!
I have seen other Dr. but seems like the same opinion. Maybe I have dyslpasia and this can leed to cancer. But with no evidence, I dont want hyster at all.
No one can help me.
