Help! Spotting at 1 wk. post op when none before!

Help!

I had my TAH/BSO on 8/23. In the hospital I had minimal teeny amounts of bleeding vaginally.

Since coming home I'd had NONE.

Yesterday I rushed around a bit when my son let out a visitors dog accidentally...(ACK!) I didn't run exactly, but I'd been moving much quicker than I had previously...

Also I had a horrible coughing spell earlier in the day and when I coughed I literally felt like I'd ripped something inside.

Anyway, about 2 hours later I went to the bathroom and was surprised to see blood in my panties.

I've been spotting a minimal amount since, mainly after going to the bathroom.

Is this normal or do you think I should call the dr.?

You may have over done it that day. I also had spotting, and I called my Dr. He said that I needed to remember I just had major surgery, and that 10 years ago women stayed in the hospital for a week after a hyster. So basically he told me I needed to relax, put my feet up and rest.

Good Luck to you!

Just my opinion...Not medical advice.

Hi Rebz.

It might put your mind at ease to call your Doc. and have a word.

According to the leaflet they gave me when I left hospital, it is quite normal to bleed a little for some time after the op.
I hope that helps reassure you a little.

Take it easy!!

I haven't had any spotting since about day one, but I've been wondering about that too. I've heard that some women have some about 7 - 10 days post op as the stitches start to dissolve. It's probably a combination of timing and increased activity (as long as it's not heavy, bright red bleeding). If you're concerned you could check with your MD... I think I may have overdone it yesterday too...I think I'll take it a little easier today. It's sometimes hard to do since most of us are not used to "taking it easy" on a regular basis. Good luck

I've had spotting on and off since surgery. It is worse on days that I am active. It is normal for it to come and go. My dr. said to expect some spotting up to 6 weeks. If you're concerned I would call the dr. office. That's what they are there for!

Be a good and relax whenever possible.

I think yesterday was the day to over do it. I too pushed myself a bit too much and ended up spotting and sore. Today I'm laying low watching movies and not walking around too much.
We have to remember 1 week is not enough time to heal on the inside.

So we must all continue to pamper the princess!!!
