so confused

Hi my first trip to the jungle. I had my LAVH/BSO on the 3rd of Aug. In the hospital they put on the Climara patch. I just came from my Dr.(4 wk post op) and she said she wanted me to start taking Premarin 1.25 by mouth. I have been suffering from a headache for 2 weeks.(ahhh) I'm just worried they can get worse with this new Rx. I was just wondering if others have had headaches and did Premarin make them worse. I am 38yrs old so my Doc said it is a good thing to be on HRT.

to the Hormone Jungle!

Why did your doctor change you from Climara to Premarin? Did you have any symptoms other than the headaches?

The first several months after surgery can be challenging. Your body has a lot to recover from - shock of surgery, loss of ovaries, stress, fluctuations as the hormones your ovaries made are depleted and adjusting to a new source of estrogen is tough work! So, expect changes and keep a journal of whatever symptoms you have. Given time eventually hormones level off. Then, if you're still having symptoms, a call to the doctor is in order. Share your journal and see what changes need to be made.

For lots of good hormone information, read some of the contents of the Hormone Article List. For even more information, check the Hormone Jungle category in the Resources Database.

I agree with your doctor that at your age being on HRT is a good thing. Finding the right one that makes you feel good is important, too. There are many women in the Jungle who use Premarin and are happy with it. Hopefully they will post to share their experiences with you!

Happy reading and good luck! Keep us posted on how you're doing.
