RE:Rectum pain and pain near ovaries

I am having pain in my rectum, the pains shoot through there like you would not believe. Also I had a TVH on 3-5-03 and I am still having cramping like pain and my Dr. told me that it would not last that long and it has especially in my rectum.
I scheduled a consult with my Dr. on 9-12-04 so that I can tell him exactly what is going on.
I just wanted to know if there is anyone else experiencing the same thing.
Please let me know.

RE:Rectum pain and pain near ovaries

Hi Kathy,

If you are still having cramping and pain 1 1/2 years after your hysterectomy I definately think seeing your doctor for a complete exam is necessary.

When I started having problems with my ovary and adhesions after my hysterectomy one of the "symptoms" I noticed was rectal pain with bowel movements and with intercourse.

Let us know what your docror has to say and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Re: Question

This might sound silly, but what is having a endo and what is adhesions? Just goes to show you how much I know.

Okay, I had adhesions and he used the silver nitrate and it helped a while, but it seems like I have the same pain again.

RE:Rectum pain and pain near ovaries

Silver nitrate is used for granulation tissue. Adhesions form inside the body and can only be seen by going inside via laparoscopy, etc.

I hope you find out the cause of your pain and it is something simply remedied! Good luck!

RE:Rectum pain and pain near ovaries

Hi Kathy34,

I used to have rectal pain, about once a month right before or during my periods. After my TAH I have had a few episodes of it also. My pain is a deep, aching pain mostly, but also sometimes sharp pains. It seemed to happen mostly at night, and I even would have trouble sleeping because it hurt so bad. I didn't have any endo on my bowels, my gyn/surgeon said he checked the bowels and they were fine. I have since my surgery also had a sygmoidoscopy and he didn't find anything either other than hemhoroids (spl), so I am assuming it's that?? Haven't had the problem so bad lately, but to be safe, if it were me, I would pursue this, maybe not with the dr who did your surgery, but maybe your regular gp and if he can't help, have him referr you to a specialist. Hope you get to the bottom of this (no pun intented, really) soon, because I know it's no fun. Take care.

RE:Rectum pain and pain near ovaries

Sometimes Pudendal Nerve Entrapment comes on after surgery. It can cause pain in the labia, perineum, or rectum. There are resources listed for it at the top of this page. Unfortunately most gyno's don't know that is a potential result of surgery.
