uterine cancer

I had a LAVH on Aug. 26. Afterwards the dr. said I had the early stages of uterine cancer but they got it all with the hysterectomy.
I don't go back to her until Sept. 13th, but I've been so worried about it actually being cancer inside of me. It's very scary and I just want to make sure they really did get it all----and what's next? How do I know it won't pop up somewhere else. These are my biggest fears. Anyway, wanted to know if anyone else is going through a similar situation.

uterine cancer

Hi!

Here's what I (think) I know--
In the early stages of endo cancer, a hysterectomy is a cure with no further treatment. It gets tougher if the cancer has invaded surrounding organs. If you had invasive cancer, I bet the doc would have already had you in his/her office.

I have had breast cancer and was told I have a higher chance of having ovarian cancer. So, you might ask your doc if your breast cancer risk is higher now. I hope it isn't.

Best of luck--

uterine cancer

I had a uterine cancer DX a year ago. This waw followed with both external and internal radiation. Somewhat uncomfortable but certainly doable.
Some questions to ask.
What is the stage and grade?
Were any lynph glands removed and biopisied?
Was a gny/onc present or consulted?
If cancer was found I would suggest a consultation with a gyn?onc. They are the experts and would do the best job of telling you what to expect.
Good luck. Such a DX is scary, but when caught early very cureable.

uterine cancer

I can definately relate with you. I had a TAH/BSO Aug 30. I went into surgery unsure if I would lose my ovaries. My GYN sent a section of my uterus to pathology during surgery to check of endo cancer, it was positive so everything came out. What is really frustrating for me is I am STILL waiting for the stage and grade of my cancer. GYN said that she thinks it was superficial and that she got it all with the surg, but for my sanity I need to definative answer. Emotionally I am worse now than before surg. Sorry for all the rambling but it feels good to vent. I wish you the best and my prayers are with you.
