Getting real nervous
Well, it is only 3 more days until I have my, hopefully, vaginal hysterectomy, unless there is too much scar tissue, then it will be an abdominal, im staying positive though, it will be a vag. I get to keep my ovaries, yay! Unless there is a problem, I hope not. So as the day draws near I find myself becoming even more nervous and scared. This website offers so much comfort, though, I think I would go crazy if it werent for the hystersisters, my appreciation is whole-heartily granted. I have a question, I should of asked my Dr., but i was just too dumbfounded to do so. Why does one have to use a fleet enema, and what does an enema do for you? Does anyone know. I have never used one before, and when I was instructed by the Dr. to use one I didn't have that question written down so I never asked. I had no idea that he was going to tell me to do that. Is it common? had everyone been instructed to do the same? And does it hurt? Well, I hope I do as well as a lot of the hystersisters here. I cleaned my house from top to bottom, moved the beds and our huge sectional couch to vaccuum underneath, I even fixed our bed frame today! When im nervous I clean like crazy but I think I did too much today I am hurting like a big dog tonight, but i want to make sure that my house is perfectly clean before I go to the castle.

Our Nervous Tonya!
I think that if there were a pull down list of what to expect of our emotions, etc prior to our big day... you'd find that your right on track. I clean like a mad woman when I'm nervous or angry, as well. Imagine how great you'll feel when you get home and don't have to worry about the cleaning!
The enema is nothing to get yourself worried over. It's also very common. Some doc's like for us to do what they call a "bowel prep"... which simply means they want our bowels cleared out before surgery. I think it makes it easier for them to move around in there during the surgery.
You're fortunate if you only have to do the "Fleet". Your doc could have ordered you to drink the Magnesium Citrate...... ugh, or what I lovingly called the "Evil Green Bottle"! That stuff cleans you out like Draino... top to bottom! The enema, on the other hand, is very easy to use and not painful at all.... just weird feeling if you're not used to one.
I have to admit my mother came from a generation of women who felt that if you had a fever, runny nose or whatever... an enema was in order. Hey.... I survived!
I ended up having to have an enema during pre op even though I cleaned my bowels out the night before surgery. Go figure!
You'll be fine!!! Just try to relax. As they told me......"the waiting is the worst". I whole heartedly agree!

Getting real nervous
Hi you know what PaTony is right! The day before my surgery I was a mess, sick to my stomach having panic attacks ect.. I also cleaned like mad yelled at my kids all day for no reason. Waiting is the hardest part. I realized once it was over that i got myself in a mess for no reason it really was,nt that bad.
As far as the enema they are'nt bad at all. I'd rather do that "evil green bottle" I did magnisium citrate before my surgery i swear never again!!!That stuff is more than bad lol!
I'm 2weeks 3 days post-op and i'm really glad I did it no regrets. I'm still a little sore and have to watch what i eat and drink alot of fluids. I take my daughter outside and walk for a bit. But really it does get better. Please don't get discourged after were all here to help each other. My thoughts and prayers are withou and god bless.
