castle date........oh I"m scared

thanks girls for your responses

yeah my boss is a strange one, one minute she is my boss the next minute she "doesn't handle that anymore"......

I dont' know what she thought I was doing when I was going for the MRI and the other tests and appt's but she seemed confused that I would need anything done to my bladder.

I phoned the preadmission clinic last night and left a message saying that I was scheduled for the 29th and did they have me on their list to come in yet as I'm "allergy girl" and had some major difficulties with my last procedure there.....also the head RN is supposed to call me today about the last time......we'll see.....

to top it off I found out yesterday one of the companies I work for is hurting for cash (5 share me) and that is why my boss (?) may have suggested the other secretary fill in for me....my worst fear is they will combine the two jobs and I'll have nothing to come back to but I've been saying that for the last 8yrs......so I guess I can't worry about that I need to just focus on getting thru the procedure and the pain that comes afterwards

thanks for listening!!

castle date........oh I"m scared

well the preadmission nurse finally called me back re: my dental surgery and I explained what had happened and my concern considering that I was going to be back in there on the 29th....she said that the computer didn't show that I was to be admitted so she'd double check that (yes please I will need major pain control after this )

she wasn't very apologetic about what had happened she said that the PAR notes said I was "really out of it" so I explained I believe I was having a severe reaction to the anesthetic and maybe someone should've clued into that....and she said that she would make sure to get my old anesthesia reports (I thought that's what she'd been doing for the last two weeks while I waited for the call back) and they would be sure to not use the same thing this time.

I'm not left feeling any more comfortable....I asked if I would have a preadmission appt before this and she said no since I"d just been in and I said considering what happened don't you think it's a good idea I meet with the anesthetist first? So then she agreed....and said if they hadn't called me by next Fri to set something up to call her back.......

Oh Gidge (((sweetie))), I'm sorry that you don't seem to be getting anywhere with this. I am a real dumb-dumb about the Canadian healthcare system so, I don't know how much of a problem it would create for you....however, I would simply refuse to have it done until they could make you feel more comfortable about the whole situation. Good luck and you know you are in our thoughts!

well i've been waiting since May as it is......so I don't want to put it off....hopefully she understands my issues......I forgot to tell her about my tongue swelling up during the dental surgery so I called back and got her voice mail and told her about that and that I had worked very closely with the anesthetist last time I had the hydrodistension done on pain control......so we'll see.....I'm getting more scared by the minute though

I know how hard the waiting is and I can understand you not wanting to put it off any longer. I will just that you are able to get some answers ahead of time so that you are comfortable with it all. Good luck!

thanks

I think she/they are being very glib about a something that's very serious for me, so I intend to make sure all my ducks are in a row so to speak before I go.....I"m very concerned between the pain and the problems I had with the anesthesia

((((Gidge))))) I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time over this

I don't know if you've already done this , but would it be possible to get your doctor to back you up on the anesthesia and treatment issue? This would probably be the best way to ensure that you do not have a repeat experience.

It's a good sign that she agree that a talk with the anesthesiologist is indicated, considering all that you went through.

Hang in there: the 29th will be her sooner than you think

well the RN I spoke with yesterday swears she is going to double check with the uro's office that I'm being admitted AND having a preop appt.....and I"m supposed to call her next Fri if I haven't heard anything....I did say to the girl that called with the surgery time that i was being admitted overnight and she said "yes" that's the whole reason it's being done at this hospital as opposed to the other......so we'll see......the saga continues

I think I"ll call next Wed and see how things are progressing instead of Fri.....

Gidge,
I pray the Lord protects and keeps you.
Concerned re: the cavalier attitude of the
health care people you're dealing with. Agree with
"Bill'sSweetie"--Your needs re: drug reactions should
be covered before going on with surgery
Had hernia repair last year with nothing but a local.Best
surgery I ever had--no nausea, wooziness, or drug reactions, and only a little swelling.
I was adamant on having no meds, and the pre-intake people
were accomodating.
best to you.
