HRT Side Effects

I'm post op 4 weeks today and have been taking HRT (Premarin) for 3 weeks. It seems like since I've been on HRT that one of the side effects I'm having is nausea, bloating and it seems like I'm constantly having to go the bathroom especially after eating. I'm wondering if this is normal due to HRT or is part of having your body opened up and it getting over the shock from surgery. I'm leaning more towards the HRT since it started a week after I started taking Premarin. I see my doctor tomorrow and will ask him as well, (I think I'll ask for some other form of HRT - especailly since I found out how Premarin is produced!)

I would love to get some feedback from you all. Any input would help!

Thanks my fellow princesses!

Maria

HRT Side Effects

Hi Maria

It could be a combination of all you mentioned, but nausea is listed as a side effect of Premarin. Here's a link to a lot of good information about conjugated estrogens.

Lots of women do very well on Premarin but if you'd prefer to not use it, there are lots of alternatives. Maybe you'd prefer not taking an oral estrogen and instead would prefer a patch such as Climara or Vivelle Dot. Both are quite popular with the ladies in the Hormone Jungle.

So that you know what your options are before you speak with your doctor tomorrow, read the links here for bio-identical estrogens, compounded estrogens, and esterified and estropipated estrogens.

Happy reading!

You have some good references to study before the doctor's visit tomorrow.

One of the articles that helped me the most was Too Little Too Much
Here is the link:

Hi.....as I've said here many times....You Ladies have heard me before....I am on Estrace 2 mg. for 15 months now and I'm doing great on it. It is bio-identical....not synthetic like Premarin...and I haven't had any menopausal symptoms at all. I pray it stays this way forever!! Good Luck!
