Boy, guess I need to be here more often...

Although I have been on the site many times since my TAH in 7/03, I haven't checked this "Road Less Traveled" section out too often.

I felt an immediate understanding to the original post. My biggest problem is that my long time gyn went out of practice in March of 03, due to the rising costs of malpractice insurance.

So my first year check-up was with a new doctor (recommended by friends). I sure didn't feel very comfortable talking to him and was there to basically reassure myself that the healing was complete.

I have not been intimate with my husband since surgery, which has been 15 mos. ago. Thankfully, he has been understanding and completely supportive. I have absolutely no sexual desire. I discussed this with my "new" doctor and he suggested including testosterone to the current estrogen therapy I was taking. So now I am switched from Menest to Estravest. He lowered the overall dosage and I only take it every other day. I was worried at first, because I thought my other symptoms would intensify since the dose of estrogen was lowered. So far so good. I do have health risks to consider, so I feel that telling him it isn't working (libido-wise) will get me nowhere, since he made it clear he didn't want me on any higher dosage. I do notice more breast tingliness and fullness than before (pms-like symptoms) but it hasn't changed my libido any. Not having that "same" comfort level with this new doctor hasn't helped any.

I also suffer from intermittent swelling, numbness and soreness on my lower left side, around the incision. Since people have posted about swelly belly for years after the hyst. I've considered it normal....so far. Doesn't make sense, though, that it only occurs on the left side. Not sure what scar tissue or adhesions are suppose to feel like so have just endured these odd sensations. Guess, I will be more specific the next time I talk to my doctor. Doesn't hurt to ask.

I've had friends tell me that I need to see a women gyn since they understand from the woman's point-of-view. Feeling very confused right now.............

Just feeling a little down and reading this post made me want to respond.

Best of Luck to everyone................
