HELP! Surgery in 3 days and I am SCARED!!

I was hoping that someone out there could help to ease my mind a bit! I am having a total hysterectomy on Thursday and I am terrified! I am only 29 years old , how will this effect the rest of my life?

HELP! Surgery in 3 days and I am SCARED!!

Hello aquariusis (sp),

I know exactly how you feel. Mine is at 6:50 in the a.m. I am so nervous I don't know what to do with myself. I wish you could give you some comfort. I need it too, but nothing seems to help.

You take care. I'm sure we will both be ok.

Good Luck to you!

HELP! Surgery in 3 days and I am SCARED!!

My surgery is in 2 days & I would do it this second if I could. It has to be done & the sooner they do it the sooner I can get all better. I've been on this site for over a month, asking tons of questions & getting tons of comforting replys. Ask whatever questions you have here, these ladies are the best. Also read the post where the ladies have just had the surgery, they tell you exactly what happens. Best of luck with your surgery, you will do fine.

HELP! Surgery in 3 days and I am SCARED!!

All you about to be princess's, I would give anything it I could go back and be 29 and would have had this surgery. My female problems ruined a great deal of my life after my children were born and I should have had it done much sooner, but because of my fear I kept backing off until I got worse and worse, stupid me but its over now, 3 weeks ago today and I never made a better choice in my whole life, dont be afraid, you guys are gonna be so happy when its over, dont read into any negative info, thats what pulled me away for so long, believe me you will be so much better off and happy happy campers..Hugs, D

HELP! Surgery in 3 days and I am SCARED!!

Although I was somewhat apprehensive about my surgery, I didn't feel any outright FEAR until I laid down on the operating table. Then I trembled -- although that could have also been because the room felt like it was about 20 degrees.

I think that much of the apprehension I felt stemmed from the uncertainty -- didn't know if I was losing ovaries, nervous because I was worried they'd find something cancerous...

For me, the power of prayer was incredible, so if you are a spiritual person, I'd recommend it. I was afraid of things that were completely out of my control, and to just consciously give over that control to God (or whatever higher power you might believe in) really did help allay my fears and apprehension.

Other than that, I listened to relaxing music and kept myself as busy as possible those last few days. It made me feel like I was being productive! Good luck.

HELP! Surgery in 3 days and I am SCARED!!

Maybe this will help. In your IV, the anesthetist can give you something to "take the edge off." Also, if you're afraid of not waking up and it's hard to wake you up, they can put a medicine in there that will wake you up. (I asked.)

Most of my fear was not knowing which surgery I was going to have. He said it would be an LAVH unless he couldn't take it out that way. Mostly it's fear of the unknown.

I do NOT regret this surgery...best thing I ever did for myself.

HELP! Surgery in 3 days and I am SCARED!!

I know exactly how you feel at this very moment I am a mess. My surgery is tomorrow at noon. I have been strong up to this moment and then BAM last night I lost it and its still going, the littlest things are setting me off. My work had a little party for me this morning and made me laugh until I left and my Boss gave me a hug as did my co-workers and I cried the whole way home and then some. I cannot tell you that you won't go through this, but what I am learning from all the ladies on this site is that it is ok to let it go, from time to time you will just have to let it go and not bottle it inside. I have prayed more in the last two days than in a week. I do not go to church but I do believe in GOD. I am the strong one in my family, so now I have to be the weak one and I am not liking that. I do not like to be the center of attention and that seems to be the case lately. Just take it one day at a time and cry if you need to. You will be in my prayers.
