What is the vaginal cuff?

I've looked all over for a diagram, description, anything. I read posts about the vaginal cuff needing to heal, and I'm not sure what you all are talking about.

Anyone have a good gynecological website they can refer me to? Even a description would help.

Thanks!

What is the vaginal cuff?

I have a question? I have my cervix removed but don't remember ever being told about the viginal cuff or stitches. Could i have had this and the DR. forgot to tell me or is that not everyone that had their cervix removed has one?

What is the vaginal cuff?

if your cervix is gone you should have a vaginal cuff..it's just a term for the top of the vagina that has been sewed closed..and here i thought i'd just have like a black hole up there where everything was magically suspended and stuff could get lost!

What is the vaginal cuff?

Me and my boyfriend were just having this discussion the other day and I didnt have an answer for him.

I had my cervix and uterus removed on 9-30. So they sewed me up, like closing up the hole where those were ? Dont mean to sound stupid but he was kind of excited ( I hope I dont gross anybody out by saying this), asking if he was going to "bottom out" or hit bottom when we are able to have sex again. Sorry guys, I know it sounds horrible, but I didnt really have an answer for him.

Can anybody help me out with this so I know and I can tell him??

Thanks

What is the vaginal cuff?

Hi -- everything should be fine with your boyfriend. I was extremely worried about how things would feel for my DH, thought he might be hitting a brick wall in there or something! haha But he said it doesn't feel any different as far as what he's bumping into than before. He did say things feel more snug. So that's good!

What is the vaginal cuff?

Ya know, I usually educate myself about these things but I haven't yet asked about the details of my surgery and never heard of a vaginal cuff before this website. I was so sick and bleeding so heavily before surgery, it never even crossed my mind.

So since she took everything but my right ovary out, I guess I have one too. I'll have to ask at my 10/28 visit.

Natalie
