family support vs friend support

I had my surgery last spring and thought that I was just being overly sensitive, but now I know I wasn't. I'm really honkerblonked off at my family–my husband, three kids, brothers, sisters, etc.. My husband went out of town the night before my surgery (although he was back the next morning). It didn't even occur to him that I was scared, etc. and might need him to be with me. I guess my having told him several times over the course of the previous 2-3 weeks how scared I was wasn't a big enough clue. My oldest became almost hysterical when he thought I might have cancer, but after I came out of everything OK, he wasn't at the hospital as much as I would have wanted him to be. The other two did some of the stuff that they thought they should, but no more. Two sisters came to visit for about an hour each, then never called again. I was fed in bed by my family, but that amounted to being brought food to eat, then leaving me alone. No one ever came in just to see how I was doing or to keep me company. I had to call them if I needed anything. I could go on, but why? My co-workers called, visited, brought stuff, took care of work-related stuff that needed to be done and turned in, and when I returned to work, wouldn't let me do much. These are co-workers of only 2 years!! I really feel alone now and afraid that someday I might REALLY be sick and now I know I don't have anyone to count on. I dunno………
