13 mths post TAH/BSO, endo returned and discharge

Hi Ladies

I hope your all as well as can be expected. As some of you know I am 30 years old and had a TAH/BSO 13 mths ago because of endometriosis and terrible periods. At the time I was so desperate to get some relief from the chronic pain I had been living with that even having something so drastic just didn't bother me, I was concentrating on the end result. After surgery I had 3 mths of NO ENDO pain and was unbelievably excited and planning what I was going to be doing in the future, looking forward to doing things that I haven't done for years because of living in constant pain.

Unfortunately thats were the pain free life ended once again, I then started to get the old pains back again, they became worse and worse until I actually ended up just as bad as I was before I had surgery!! I had the usual problems with my gynae trying to explain that it is possible to have endo after a hyst and that my pains are exactly the same, he wasn't having any of this, I got the usual "if you've had a hyst you can't possibly have endo, it's probably IBS". Well I wasn't gonna be fobbed off, so I pushed for a referal to a endo specialiest which I eventually got. When I saw this new gynae he listened to me (which was so refreshing) I had an examination and he told me that he thinks it probably is still the endo causing me the pain and maybe adhesions aswell and it could be some nerve damage but he obviously can't tell for sure until he does a lap. Not once did he tell me I had IBS and he also said that he would "NEVER" treat endo with a hyst, especially at my age! Which has made me hate my previous gynae, I know I pushed him for a hyst believing that this would work, but the main reason I thought it would work was because he said that a hyst is the only way of guaranteeing a reduction in pain or even a complete end to the pain.

Anyway, I can't afford to be bitter as this would end up tearing me apart, especially as I have no children of my own. So my endo specialist is going to be doing a lap, although Im still waiting for the date to come through.

What I wanted to say/ask anyone is that it is completely possible for endo to return after a hyst and you mus'nt let anyone fobb you off, you know what the pains are like and your not imagining it or going mad!!! The other thing is that I have been having quite a bit of dark discharge since the pain returned but it seems more now than before, does anyone else get this after having a TAH/BSO ???? I didn't think anything else would be able to come out if you know what I mean?? Or am I just being completely niaeve LOL.

Sorry to go on ladies, just thought I better update you and hopefully my story will help someone else who thinks they have endo still after a hyst.

Lots of Love

You sound just like me! Your story is so similar to mine. I had my endo return only a few months after my hyst, diagnosed through a Lap. I have no ovaries, and my GYN told me there was no way endo could return. Well, she was wrong.

GOod luck on your upcoming lap. I hope they will be able to help you. Are you on HRT? Just wondering because I think the HRT my GYN forced me to be on is the reason my endo grew back so fast after my hyst.

I'm going to the Mayo clininc next week for an endo consult. I hope they can at least get me some relief!

PM me if you'd like to talk. I know how hard it is to be in pain. Pain can take over your life.

(HUGS)
