Insurance approval???

I am having a hard time getting approval by < oops, please don't mention names > my insurance company. Said I haven't tried enough alternative treatments. I had an ablation 18 months ago, have had a D & C, cannot take hormones because of hyperplasia... Anyone else had any problems getting approval?

Insurance approval???

Hi, as frustrating as it can be waiting for insurance approval, I can understand why they want to be certain that it's the best option for you. A hysterectomy is such a major surgery and once done can't be undone.

You and your dr can file an appeal and hopefully you can get it resolved soon.

Best wishes.

Insurance approval???

Molly,
Contacting your doctor's office is a good idea. There is probably one person there who deals with insurance issues. If things get really awful and you can't get the issue resolved, contact the Insurance Commissioner in your state. Sometimes, they can help. . . . I contacted my health insurance company about a week before my surgery, to make sure they had all the required paperwork. It turned out that they were missing one crucial piece, but I then had time to get this resolved before the surgery. Best of luck to you! Just keep hammering at them until you get what you need.

Insurance approval???

Mollyfrise,

I am in the same situation right now!!! I have a scheduled surgery date of Nov. 4th and I still do not have my authorization from my insurance company. The Dr's office called me last week and wanted me to come in for another biopsy because they were having problems with my insurance. I have been battling DUB for 6 yrs. and have had 3 D&C's and the latest procedure in May for carcinoma in situ and had a hysteroscopy, D&C and cold knife biopsy. I have tried Provera for the DUB and they still won't approve!!!

I feel your pain!!!

Waiting...

Have you actually been denied and are going through the appeals process? I have and that's why the doctor's office faxed over my whole file.
