OK, so I know Cancer is no laughing matter. But I came across this site today and thought we could all use a laugh

"Take a moment and read some of the humorous anecdotes as told by women, families and friends whose lives have been affected by ovarian cancer or write and submit your own embarrassing, silly or side-splitting experience. In time, we hope to publish a collection of these stories to share with others who are in need of a good laugh. "

"After my second chemotherapy treatment, I progressively lost ALL my hair and had to beg my longtime hairstylist to shave it off my head. I lost my eyebrows, eyelashes, and all other body hair. Seeing myself BALD and NAKED was devastating. Then I realized, "At least its happening in the summer. Now I don't have to SHAVE!"

"During a recent three-month follow-up GYN/ONC exam, my male GYN/ONC felt something abnormal during the rectal exam. He asked, "Are you constipated?" My reply, "If I am, by the time you're done I won't be!"

"I was sitting on the exam table in my room, the door ajar, with my lovely green cloth open-butt gown on. As I was waiting for the GYN/ONC and nurse to enter, I heard the nurse say, "Amy doesn't mind." So when the nurse entered the room, I asked, "Doreen, what doesn't Amy mind?" She replied, "Having a resident in the room." I commented, "I never knew I had a choice." As the female resident entered the room, Doreen looked at me and said, "If you don't want her that's your choice. It's okay." The resident added, "I can leave. I don't mind." Much to my surprise, I declared with all three in the room (the GYN/ONC, nurse and resident), "Its been two years and now you ask me if I mind? I've been poked and pried so many times before, what's once more!"

Humor is Necessary to Keep Us Going

Right now on the large ovarian board we are having a discussion about our mascots and stuffed animals who go to chemo or keep us company at home. Of course, for you "old timers," I have Shullet up there.
