No sex reasons

I am almost 5 months post op and I just went to the doc with a lot of itching. He did a culture and I had a yeast infection AND a bacterial vaginal infection. I did not have any symptoms from the vaginal infection that I knew of. After it has been treated I notice I do not have abdominal cramping that I was ignoring as just 'aches and pains' of getting older

I had to treat the yeast infection, wait 5 days , then treat the vaginal bacterial infection for 3 days then wait a few more days for sex. Almost two weeks without intercourse and that was for infections!

When I went for my 4 week post op check-up, my doc said my vagina was not healed and he treated it and told me to wait 3 more weeks before having sex.

There are a lot of reasons to wait-

I hope you have talked to your doctor and are getting the right medical care for whatever it is. You can't know unless you are looked at and if there are questions, cultures done.

's and I hope you are feeling better soon!

I can guarantee you......the moment you let that nurse know what's REALLY going on.........she will make sure that doc sees you ASAP!!

Medical people have to constantly prioritize. As long as you do not give them ALL the info, you may not fall near the top of the list. Your pride is not worth delaying treatment. The consequences could be too great. If you cannot see your doc, especially on the weekend, please visit the ER.

DAY 9 SEX - Another reason not to break the rules

I finally went to the ER last night as my stomach started to swell again and all that fun stuff. They did blood work, complete catscan, etc. They said there is no internal/external damage. The Doc said that I was hurting and swelling more because I am doing too much housework etc too soon.

I'm very glad you haven't done any damage ----- you must feel relieved to know for sure.

Please take it easy now - maybe you want to have a look at the Post op Articles on the home page, to have a clearer idea of what constitutes taking it easy on the domestic front?

The trouble with starting to feel better is that inevitably you feel like doing more ---- and then you feel wiped out.

I found what worked for me was to break activities into small units and pause between units. Gradually the "active" times got to be bigger than the "quite" times.

I hope you are able to get a handle on what works for you, to achieve the right balance.

take care!

I'm glad they didn't find anything seriously wrong, but wonder if you told them about engaging in intercourse since Day 9? Has your own doctor called you back?

As far as housework is concerned, I think you'll enjoy this humorous thread from several years ago.

Thank God! You are so fortunate, FallPrincess. I am SO happy that you got yourself checked AND there is no apparent damage. Just keep being a good little Princess and pamper yourself. You deserve the best, easiest recovery possible.

DAY 9 SEX - Another reason not to break the rules

Yes ma'am I did tell them about sex since day 9. They did the vaginal exam as well and that came back fine.

My Doc hasn't called back yet but they did have the GYN on call at the ER to make sure everything was ok.

I am trying to be careful and laid back when it comes to cleaning but we have a 4 1/2 yr old, 3 1/2yr old, 18mo old, huge dog, and a medium sized parrot. Combine all of these and it equals constant vacuuming.

We had a friend from church watch the kiddos the other night when I went to the ER. I was in frets because I hate people coming over when the house is messy.

We left at 3:45pm and returned home at 1:30am. Our friend had vacuumed, swept&mopped the wood floors, cleaned the dining room table and counter tops, did what was left the of days' dishes, and completed ALL of our laundry including folding and hanging everything!

I praise God for friends like that!

DAY 9 SEX - Another reason not to break the rules

Hi

I am glad that you are okay. I know as women we have a hard time letting people help us. When I was talking to my sister about the subject of not wanting anyone in my church to know about my surgery she said " You have no right to take away there chance to serve" boy that has really stuck with me. So I just would like you to sit back, relax, enjoy your family and friends and let them serve you for a while.

Take Care
Cherri

PS: Your friend was truly a God send.

DAY 9 SEX - Another reason not to break the rules

Our church family has been wonderful!

They have brought us complete dinners nightly during the first week home from hospital. Have taken my son to pre-k in hte mornings. Have babysat the kiddos (for free) so that hubby could take me to appts. They have also offered (begged) to let tehm keep the kiddos for a night so hubby and I can have some peace and quiet. We plan on taking them up on that offer soon! We need a chance to catch up on sleep.

I too, have a hard time asking for help or taking it but this recovery is a harder then I ever imagined.

Today my 18mo old woke up wheezing and is continuing to have problems w/her asthma all morning I am hoping she will improve so that we don't have to go to the ER as the FLU is making its presence in our area. The FLU would really tear her asthma up!
