I need advice....

Hello everyone,

I had my hysterectomy on Jan. 8, 2002 and lost everything but my left ovary. About 8 months after my hyst. I began having pelvic pain & pain on my right side (which is very common for me) and I underwent surgery for severe adhesions.

I am now beginning to be in pain again...only it's my left side that hurts (that is where my remaining ovary is). I have also been experiencing extreme fatigue (I could sleep all day) and I experience periods where I feel a hot rush come over me....only about 15 seconds or so. I've noticed that I have been irritable lately and my sex drive which has been almost non-existant since my hyst. is now completely non-existant.

The reason I still have my ovary is because I had my hyst. @ 24 and now, I am only 27 and all docs say that I am too young to lose my remaining ovary. I think they should spend a day or two in my body to know just how crappy I feel.

I don't know if my ovary could be shutting down or if it is endo again?!? Anyone with any experience, please talk to me....even those of you with advice.

I have always said that I will not go on HRT due to all of the side effects, so this is very shaky ground for me.

I know I need to call my doctor & I will...I'm just sooo tired of the pain and the surgeries....ugh!! Please, talk to me!!

I am sorry to hear that you are having more pain. This is a road that none of us really want to be on.

I agree with Michelle - get more than one doctor's opinion to help you diagnosis and determine what is best for your situation.

I'm sending some extra s your way.

Endo chic,

In my opinion, it sounds like adhesions taking over your left ovary. I had exactly the same symptoms with my left ovary except mine wsa 3 weeks after my hyst. The doc said that the adhesions had "engulfed" my ovary and tube and wrapped it up in a ball that resembled a tumor (which is what it looked like under ultrasound)
It moved my ovary and stuck it to my bladder and colon.
Speak with your doc and then seek another's advice if your doc is not telling you what you want to hear. You should get more than one opinion on this one.
I will be praying for you and let us know what your doc said.
By the way, my "tumor" showed up on vaginal ultrasound.

I'm sorry you are having recurring pain. I just had LAVH 11-17-04. I had already lost r ovary in 2001 due to endo adhesionns smothering it and dd finally recommended hyst to take everything else except cervix (Pain was still worse on r side aftter ovary removed) I was really worried to lose the remaining ovary because i did not want to go into surgical meno but my dd said that the endo would come back with ovary left which brings to the question why they left your ovary? Maybe it is due to your age. Different dd have different opinions also. I hope you get an answer soon. God bless.

I am so sorry you are still having so much pain and problems, and so young. It is horrible and I feel bad for you. I wish there were a magic answer to your questions.

I swore I would never go on HRT do to all the negative things I had heard and the possibility of my endo returning. But after I started going through menopause it wasn't worth it. I decided that for quality of life reasons that I had to try some hormone therapy. I did research and found the best choice for me was compounded hormones. I have been so lucky that I have no re-ocurance of my endo.

I am not sure if I am just one of the lucky ones or if it is true that the imbalance of hormones (especially estrogen) cause the endo and since I have balance I have no return of the endo. I wouldn't trade my hormones for the world now.

I really hope you find an answer and that they will also do something about your adhesions. I will say a prayer for you.

i'm so sorry to hear your having so many problems as well,
i know like many of us endo sufferers endo never ends...
i had a hyst in december 2003 and i had another surgery in august i since have had pain on my right side where my right ovary is( that's all i have left)...i had a blood test because i was having "hot flashes" my Dr. determined that i was in [email protected] fun!!
she told me that it could be that the ovary wasn't getting the proper Blood supply ..or the blood supply was being cut off.. and making the ovary no function properly..it could be Enodo on the ovary or adheshions.. i too refuse to go on HRT,but she put me on Birth control pills (a form of HRT)..i was on them for a week ,lot's of side affects!! nausa, and so on.. i since have stopped taking them becasue of the side affects so now i'm back to square 1.. i'm 30 and in menopause with pain on the right side constantly!!!!
i really can't give you any good advice just hang in there...maybe get a new dr. that will take the ovary out for ya..
i know they are giving me a hard time becasue i'm only 30,but my dr. did tell me that if and when it get's really bad and i can't take it any longer they waill take the ovary out.. Good luck on your road!!
