This one is 'funny'....

I am 24 days post-op so in the 3-4 week range and I 'realized' something yesterday in the deeper sense and thought I would share this as I know my hyster sisters will appreciate this.
I read on here about other sisters not realising this in the deeper sense for a while post-op and now I know what they meant and thought I would share mine....
I went to a zoo yesterday and yes, staying home today, I overdid it 3 days in a row with Thanksgiving (I helped out at work as a volunteer, I work for non-profit business but we feed alot of homeless holiday time and I went to help out), did running around Friday and then the zoo yesterday.
Anyway, I was treated to the zoo yesterday and I went to the restroom and as soon as you walk in, there is a sign that says: Sanitary products can be purchased at..... and named 2 or 3 places they could be bought at.
I snickered all the way to the stall and coming out of the stall there was a tampon machine that made me grin even more. It was in this restroom that I really realised I will never have T.O.M. (time of month) again nor for the next 20 years that I would have it.
I walked out of the restroom grinning. It was cold so not many ppl and I am glad or ppl would have thought I was nuts.
Just thought I would share as I KNOW my sisters would 'get it' and I can't share with ladies my own age in general as they will have Aunt Flo for another 20 years or longer and I don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings but knew I can share it here.....
I hope all are OK today..

I can see you smiling now....................I did the same thing and still do! When I returned to work after my TVH years ago I took all of my remaining "products" in a pretty bag and gave them to my co-workers to keep on site for those unexpected visits from Aunt Flo. They still laugh about this. I don't miss having to visit that aisle in the store anymore!!!!

So keep smiling.................after all we go through we deserve it!

I keep trying to remember, what time of the month, is this ?? Force of habit I guess. The fact I won't be having visits from af, still hasn't completely sunk's just so ingrained.

But it won't be bad news, when my brain finally does figure it out.

Thanks for the suggestion on what to do with unused tampons and pads! I buy (well, I used to buy) them in bulk at the local discount store and my TAH was rather sudden (about 3 weeks after the diagnosis of massive fibroids and no period for 6 weeks because I was just starting menopause) and I'm stuck with literally hundreds of tampons. Since I work in an office with about a dozen women of menstrual age (and nearby departments have dozens more), they won't go to waste! And they are sure to help those whose periods come unexpectedly early.

I still catch myself looking after I wipe to make sure I don't need one.

I ended up giving all my 'leftovers' to my sister who is 4 years older than I am and laughed the whole time I was doing it!

She used to complain about her monthly cycle although she never has had the severe bleeding and cramping that I always had.

I know it was a little mean... but she dosen't call me "Brat" to this day for nothing!!!

I just gave away a bag full of the super maxi extra length to my mother (age 72) who just had knee surgery and was complaining that she couldn't always "make it" to the bathroom in time...... of course, I found six more pads as I was cleaning out the hall closet. It's amazing where they pop up. Old suitcases, purses, boxes of makeup . . . and yes, I snicker and grin, not just in the stores and bathrooms, but at those horrible commercials that come on t.v.....tee hee!!

I always get a kick out of the tampax commercial where they're stranded on a deserted island, and only have no name brand in the hut, so they use those to spill out send tampax, a plane drops off a box, than they say" cause being a women rocks,", well it sure does now, but I can honesty say before surgery being a women was a pain in the ***, now it does rock, finally. I get a good snickle out of that one. Everytime i see a sale in the flyer for them, i always say, "thank god i don't need those anymore" and have decided to start saving money that i would have spent on products for a vaction for just me.

Yay! No more period! No more being embarrassed at the doctor's when the asked me when was my last period! I never kept track. Now I won't look stupid.

I would donate my tampons but I've never met anybody else who likes the OB applicator-free tampons. I tried to make bird toys for my parrot out of them, but she wasn't interested.

I have caught myself a couple of times since the hysterectomy trying to find the string. I have already thrown away all those old undies. Once all this pain is gone, life is gonna be great!

I had my TVH 11 days ago today. Upon coming home I put my box of lightdays on the bathroom counter since I couldn't reach around into the cabinet. I told DH that once these are gone we're going to have the cabinet back and I'll never have to deal with it again. You should have seen his eyes light up! Then he said "so what's your excuse going to be now?" Of course he said it with a smile. Going to keep the light stuff around for visitors and DD in a few years. I've already warned friends that they're getting "goodie bags" from me for x-mas.
