There ARE men who "get it" (just sharing a post)

Thank you for sharing these wonderful, wonderful stories. I too have a wondeful DH. He has taken such good care of me - I really couldn't have asked for more. While I was at the castle, he set up a place for me to recover in the family room (I hate to miss anything). He thought of everything, the phone, kleenex, a trash bag, a bell (in case I needed something), he put an extension cord on the lamp so that I could turn it on/off without straining, the TV remotes, pillows - it was Awesome! He still to this day doesn't let me over do it! When we're at the grocery store he pushed the cart - he load, he unloaded the car! I'd be lost without him!

Thank you all for sharing! Lucky us - we have so much to be thankful for!

i love this thread!

My DH has been excellent throughout. I had to laugh at the comment in this thread--that it took 3x longer to make a sandwich. I can relate! Six days post-op, he left the counter full of dishes because the dishwasher was full... Silly me, I unloaded the dishwasher. DH took it to heart and has been trying to watch for those types of issues. He listens to me when I express my feelings; he fetches things for me in the evening even though I've been home all day and he's been at work. He even cooked the entire meal last Friday when his kids came over to celebrate Thanksgiving and his birthday. It was deeeeelicious!

My boss is also a guy who gets it. Despite the fact that my surgery was scheduled for Nov. 1 (nothing but death usually keeps an accountant from work then), he said my physical health was more important. He covered part of my job for me. Someone reported that he had a large sticky note on his computer to remind himself to send me flowers from our department. He has respected my recovery by not calling me at home. And, he sent me a handwritten note of appreciation, giving me specifics of how I was missed by him and our team--concluding with, "Don't come back before you are ready!"
