A bit discouraged.....

Hey Girl!!
How's it going? I just want to run something by ya. I have taken alot of different anti depressants over the years. A few years a go my doctor prescribed me Celexa and then a new drug came out called Lexapro. It is a sister drug to celexa. Anyway, I take my meds at night time. It seems to be doing well. I have been going to the doctors about my back pain. My medical doctor prescribed a drug called elavil at night. The reason she prescribed this in addition to my lexapro is I have nerve damage in my legs from my back surgery. Sooo, now, I don't have to take ambien for sleep anymore. Just the lexapro and elavil. Elavil is also used for sleep meds and pain and anti depressant. So, I kind of feel like we are killing two birds with one stone here. I think I have taken effexor many years ago. I don't remember having any side effects. I sure did fight with the devil of depression when I was in my30's. I am gonna be 49 Dec.15th and I am alot better now. Nobody wants to have to live on pills or be depressed. But hey, S*** happens. I am like you. The thought of being down mentally is a bummer dude. It is scarey because there is absolutely nothing you can do or your family. So, I too have my fingers crossed for you. Let us know. Take care...Sincerely, Sunshine 48

A bit discouraged.....

Hello Everyone, I'm back.....Doc decided I was doing so well on my pills, he gave me the low dose, told me to stick out the yawning and sighing and carry on bravely!! If I feel panicky or anything, go to emerg. He thinks I will be fine. I dont even have to have an U/S or colonoscopy for now as he feels it may be a seroma, or some other thing, but it is nothing at this point to worry about.

Thank you to everyone who supported me in the past 10 weeks, I could not have done this so well without you....I will always always remember my sisters on here.

Hugs to everyone...

That is great Kat! I know you didn't want to stop taking it and I hope the 37.5 mg will work just as well without all the side effects being so bad!
I know you are breathing a sigh of relief...no pun intended..hehe
Keep me updated and let me know how the lower dose is working for ya!

Hi Kat

First of all thanks for the pm. I am always so glad to hear from you. It sounds like you are on the right tract to your new wonderful life.
I am sorry to hear about the side effects. Alot of our clients at work use benedryl or cogentin for side effects. Be sure to ask your doctor about these. Since you are doing so good,I sure hope you are able to stay on the effexor. I have a friend on effexor. She says it helps her lose weight. Is that true? I was thinking maybe I should have used that instead of the zoloft I was on at first. I am now completely off of the antidepressants and feel great emotionally. If I could just get everything elde working 100% I would feel like the new me I was told I would be. I will wait patiently.

Let us know what your dr. had to say.

Good luck and I wish we lived closer together.

s and more s

your friend, Peggy
