Dec. 8 is the day!! And I'm READY!
Hey ladies! Brand new here (been lurking) and thought I'd say hello!
My surgery (LAVH) will be next Wed 12/8 at 8:30 am. Pre-op is done, lab work done, all is left now is to wait!
I am thrilled that I am finally going forward with this surgery. I have had a horrible time with my periods most of my life, (severe pain, heavy bleeding, bloating, exhaustion and major mood swings) and for the past year or so have been very irregular, sometimes having two full periods a month.
Yes, I feel a bit of trepidition. Like another poster said, that feeling you get before you board a plane. And I'm not real excited about gas pains, etc but for the most part I am looking forward to not having 12 days+ a month feeling like crap.
I've gotten some great tips here, and want to thank everybody for sharing them. To all LIW, chin up! I'll be thinking of you all, and remember, this is a GOOD thing!

Good luck to you, I think you will be very pleased with the outcome. You didn't mention if you were having them take everything or not, anyway, I had my LAVH 2 years ago, and I had the same problems you have described as well as endo. I went ahead and had them take everything so I wouldn't have to worry about it later. My surgery went very well, I had no trouble at all, in fact I wasn't even in the hospital 24 hours and didn't even have to take any pain pills. I will pray for you and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas......pain free!!!!

Thanks for the well wishes!
I'm having my left ovary taken out for sure, and am planning on keeping my right ovary if it's healthy. I'm 36, and would not like to do HRT unless necessary.
Merry Christmas!

I was 34 when I had my surgery, the only reason I had everything taken was because my doctor said that if I left anything that the endo would eventually attack it too. After surgery I was on HRT for about 6 months, but since then I have not taken anything, I am not having any problems so far, so I guess I will be okay without them. I still wish you all the luck.......

I was wondering something. How can you get along with no hormones, natural or synthetic? Aren't the hormones necessary for the body to function normally?
(Not saying you don't function normally Regan )

I really think sometimes I don't function normally...ha ha!!! You know I am not really sure, right after I quit taking them I had hot flashes really bad for a little while, but as time went on, they just went away. I was really worried about taking them due to breast cancer, just kind of made me nervous. Now, 2 years down the road, I take nothing, and I couldn't feel better. Honestly, I am really glad I went ahead and had them take everything, because I have had female problems for as long as I can remember, and I know if I would have left anything, I surely would have had to have another surgery to have it removed too, that is just my luck.
