Constant Back Pain, Hips and Breast Pain

I had my hysterectomy April 2003. I tried Climaria patches and was allergic to the adhesive so I couldn't use thoes. So I haven't really had any HRT. I muddled through the rough stuff but I have been in constant pain, my lower back and hips a lot, somtimes i feel like I'm going to start my period. I have nothing left. I've been to PT, Chiropracter, Nothing seems to help. I take everything over the counter and nothing helps. A couple months ago I started having somefullness, breast pain and pain under my arm. It scared me to death. I went to the doctor they did a very full exam with a major mammogram and chest x-ray etc, blood teast, everything was ok. The pain continues. The x-ray did show I was starting to get oseto. I take calcium. Any suggestions for relief. Should I take HRT? Oops... please do not post your e-mail

Constant Back Pain, Hips and Breast Pain

Oh ((((Karla))))) I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time of it

While some of the issues you're describing could be caused by the lack of hormones in your system, some of them could also be caused by other issues. It's great that your doctor ran a full battery of tests, just to be on the safe side. Please, keep on looking as there may be an answer just around the corner.

I do know about the breast pains, as I have them, especially in my right breast. I've also been through the mamogram and blood test routines and, just like you, the results were all negative. In my case, I still have my ovaries and am still cycling, so I know that it may very well be hormonal.

Sending tons of s your way. Please do keep us posted.

Hi there

Hi Sister,
I also had a TAH/BSO in August of 03. I am not on any HRT either, just because of the risks. I went from having a period every 26 days, like a "normal" woman, complete with a "normal"" cycle, to being thrown into menopause like a truck hitting a brick wall. It is HARD, I don't think that all GYN's (at least mine) realize what effect this type of surgery has on the entire female body! I was one that rarely went to the DR, never took any type of drug (rarely even an aspirin!) and now I go to the chiro because my back hurts, just had a complete CT/IVP scan due to constant throbbing in ab., all the blood work because I am always tired (need sleeping pills, as sweats wake me all night)and have no desire for anything anymore. Just one big FLAT emotionless mood! I also get very sore breasts, (usually only the left) had a DX mammo, nothing.
Sorry I don't have any answeres for you, but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. Some women may "Breeze" through all this, others seem to be more sensitive to this change. It is lonely and depressing, but at least you have had all the tests that show nothing is "wrong". I think some day we will just adjust to the new us! I hope so.

Constant Back Pain, Hips and Breast Pain

You mentioned something about the doc thinking it might be osteo....are you taking any calcium supplements since the hyst/bso. I was told that I need to increase my calcium intake or take a supplement even though I am on HRT, I am on a low dose due to family hx of breast cancer.

I am truly sorry you are going through this. We think that after we have the hyst that everything will be fine and for some it is, for others like us, it doesn't seem to end.
Keep us updated on the test results and how you are feeling.

I Appreciate All Of Your Support

I'm glad its not just me. I knew that It wasn't just me. Thanks for all your input. It has put my mind at ease that I'm ok. If I had it to do over I would never do it. I had my hysterectomy because I had a tilted uterus and a fibroid. I thoiugh this was casuing my back pain, because my Gyn said I would have back pain so bad I couldn't stand it because of my uterus. It been almost two years and I'm still hurting, now all over. Not a good decision. Yes I do take calcium and other vitamins.. I don't take any HRT though. I'm going to start working out at a gym in January. I'm hoping that will help and I've recently quit smoking.
