Saw PM Doctor Saturday 12/4.... opions please!!

Thank you all for your support... I am so afraid to even call my gyn. Afraid to get blown off... Afraid of broken action plans... & Even more afraid becasue the pm doctor was going to send his opion back to the GYN that surgery should not be an option. At this point, I don't feel that I should have to settle for any less then a lap, to look inside & see what the heck is going on.

DH wanted me to call the GYN today, The GYN nurse had asked me to call them as well to let her now what they thought, because she was not sure what PM doc would do. When I asked her prior to my appointment she said Hmmm, good question I guess you will have to call me back & let me know so I can let other patients know... Some time's I feel like all doctors want is money... We went through the same stuff trying to find out why I could not get pregnat... I so much hate the run around.

I don't know who to call, so I call my GP... She is the one that sent me to a gyn with recomindation of my left ovary removed, ect. And that was last April... They got me into see her tomorrow afternoon.

Sweetie:

I am glad you are seeing your GP. Talk it all through with her and I'll bet you'll be able to work together on an action plan. I think you will find that your GP is quite surprised about your treatment (or rather, ill treatment) as well.

I'll relate a story of mine from years ago. I was having trouble healing from an episiotomy and I was sent to a gyn. He wanted me to consider taking BCPs, well one problem ... I was nursing - a son, no less. I told him to write the script and I would consider it. I called my GP, who delivered my son, and talked it through with his nurse and the GP agreed with me that the BCPs were not the way to go and prescribed a vaginal cream instead. At my next appt with the GP I brought it up and he said "look at this letter can you believe this guy wrote that you wanted to take the BCPs - like it was your idea?" and I said, "well that wasn't the conversation" and my GP said "well, I know - I remember that you called very concerned and upset".

Please don't think the PM doc's opinion will be binding on your GYN. Tell your side of the story and I think your GYN may think twice about referring anyone else to the PM.

Best wishes to you.... s for a great appt with your GP!

Please let us know what the GP says tomorrow. I am very curious. But if it were me, I would not go back to see that pain doc again. I wish you the best and hope you find relief soon.

I'm sorry your appt was a disappointment. Sometimes it can take trying a few docs until you find the one for you. I've been on the doc go-round quite a few times. Don't give up, keep trying.

As for a lap, just speaking from personal experience, surgery isn't always the answer. I had a lap for a looksee two years ago. Nothing was found. So still no answers. I think that the doc finding nothing was almost as devastating if he would've found something.

Good luck at your appt tomorrow. You'll be in my ers.

I just got back from my GP.... I truely love her as a doctor, she always makes me feel better... I feel like she truely listens & understands & has compation.

I had explained to her that Sunday night I decieded to be brave & try the topamax. Monday @ work I had a hard time functioning & doing my job... I seemed to have a major case of brain fog, and my words seemed jumbled up. I felt really loopy. I had a lot of problems remembering things that I do every day that are part of my job. My team coordinater even asked me if I was okay to drive home. My GP agreed that it is not a good idea for me to take topamax, even if it helps with the pain, because I can not function.

I told her about the physical/pool theropy, she said she did not understand why he would send me to theropy, because it is not going to help w/the endo or adheasions, that in her mind surgery is the best option. Do to the fact that the adheasions are affecting my sleep & causing pain durring urination. She said their are things they can do to help w/surgery and other meds they can use after words that will not make me feel so "loopy".

I expressed my consern with calling my GYN. She told me just to explain that I can't take the meds, physical theropy is not a good idea with my sensitive skin, and that it is not going to help with the adheasions or endo. That if he has any questions or conserns she would speak with him.

She said her recomindation still stands from March when she refered me to a GYN that I should have surgery for the adheasions, pcos & endo. She also recomend that I do not hurry back to work & take more then the two weeks that the GYN said it would take to recover, she recomended 4-6 weeks recovery.

So I guess tomorrow I call the GYN... I don't know how this is going to go... Please wish me luck....

Thanks Michelle!!! I sure hope so.... I am so sad that our insurance is switching & my GP will not be in the plan next year. But she recomended her friend who is in the plan for a new GP for DH & I. She also said if I have any problems or conserns do not be afraid to call her or stop by, she is always here for us.

I guess if I have any problems with my GYN I am going to have her call him...

I will keep you all posted.

(((Kim))),
I am so sorry things didn't go well with your PM Dr appt I have been in a few similar situations myself and know all to well the frustration they can cause

I'm glad you had your GP to turn to...she sounds like a wonderfully caring Dr!
I did want to share a few thoughts from my years of pain, complications and surgery/treatments I have undergone since my own TAH in 1/04/00

As for the Topomax, I have found that with many meds it can take a couple of weeks for our bodies to get used to the side-effects. I had a similar experience with Neurontin and Keppra..both are meds used for Nerve pain. I received a great amount of relief with the Keppra...just took some time for my body to adjust which for me was well worth the benefit. I am in no way suggesting you should take it just an FYI of sorts for future experience...

If they suspect you may have recurring Endo, I would strongly urge you to seek out an Endo Specialist. They have so much more knowledge on this disease along with possessing a great level of skill if surgery is needed to spot and remove any implants.

Adhesions are many times a result of surgery...more surgery can mean more adhesions and more pain...a viscous cycle to get caught up in There are certain practices and products that can be used to decrease the chance of their reformation after surgery. Again, an Endo Specialist will be well versed in this also..
As ((Kim M)) shared in an earlier reply, surgery isn't always the answer...

At the least I would at least discuss all of these issues with your Dr/Surgeon and find out what measures or methods they take with these complications. The last thing you want is to be in this same boat 6 months from now...

Good Luck with everything (((Kim))) I do hope that you can find some answers & most of all relief to your ongoing pain..

Please keep us posted on your progress....(((hugs)))

Saw PM Doctor Saturday 12/4.... opions please!!

My GYN office never returned my calls today. I called them @ 9:30 and was advised from the receptionist that she would give her the message to call me @ work.... I called back after lunch just to see if they tried calling while I was away from my desk @ 2:45pm and was advised that she was with a patient & would call me back. Okay so I thought the nurse would call me back w/in the hours, nope, so at 4:10 pm, I broke down & called them for a third time. The receptionist stated that she gave her my message & could not do anything if the nurse had not gotten around to returning my phone call, that if I did not her from her by the end of the day she was sure she would call me tomorrow.

Well I left work @ 4:45 pm & the nurse never called....

I am just fustrated.... It's not that I don't want to try the topomax, it just made me so loopy that I could hardly do my job, and I need my job. I did not even tell my manager or team coordater that I was on new meds, My team cordinater came to me asking what was wrong... My talk time had spiked, the amount of calls I had taken was lower then normal, and I was having problem with my lingo & she heard me ask the girl infront of me what my audix number was, because I could not remember. So I had to tell her... She asked me not to take the medication if it has that much effect on me @ work. I can understand her request, after all I am there to do a job, and if my thoughts don't flow I can't do my job....

I wish I new how to find an endo specialist... I would love to see one... I have checked my provider book and I don't see any listed. I understand what your saying (Sheri) and (Kim) and I don't want to be in the same boat in 6 months. I want to do this right what ever it is...

Hopefully they call tomorrow...
