2 weeks tomorrow but grocery run was difficult!

Hurray for your grocery accomplishment! It may have exhausted you, but it has to feel good to achieve a goal like that.

However, I have a question: I went grocery shopping about a week post-op, but I didn't have any kind of difficulty. Not with driving myself, not with walking, not with the cart - nothing. Was that because I picked up only a few things, nothing heavier than a quart of half'n'half? I didn't "push" the cart as much as "leaned" on it to make it move (a trick I learned after knee surgery several years ago).

As for the motorized carts, I tried that once. I knocked over a display in Walmart. I was so embarrassed that I could have run out of there, bad knee or not!

2 weeks tomorrow but grocery run was difficult!

I wasn't released to do anything at all for two weeks. I did drive a couple of times a few days before my two week check up to the post office. After my two week check up, I was told that I could do anything as long as I didn't lift any object heavier than 10 pounds. Three days later I drove to a shopping center about 20 miles away. The walking didn't bother me but sitting was very uncomfortable so I didn't stay overly long but did feel good to be out. That night my incision bleed. I had over done it. I realized that what my mind thought I was going to do and what my body was actually able to do at that time were two different things. Fortunely I had enough food in the freezer that I didn't have to go to the store for sometime as had a feeling that I would be carrying things out one at a time if I didn't. I also found that turning in the car seat was very uncomfortable when trying to back out of a parking space. Take it easy as your body has to heal and that does take time. I was released at four weeks and went back to work a few days later. Again my body was telling me that it was still going to ache and swell and that I was going to get very tried. That has all passed now as my mind and body are agreeing about the same activites now.
