Hi LadyK:
I had my surgery on Feb. 14th 2004. I am feeling great now. No problems here. I tried a hormone patch for awhile but I went back to my good old premarin and I am doing great on it. I am with you.... I do not miss those awful periods. I am glad that I had it done. Take care!

10 months post op sisters how are you doing

HI Girls,
I am about 9 months post-op and I started out great. At about 3-4 months I was doing a lot of activity, but now I am having problems again. Why would it get better and then get worse again???? About a month or so ago I started having problems..Pain, swelling, etc. and it has gradually been getting worse. The last three days I have even been having a great deal of pain. Sometimes worse than before I ever had the surgery! Very stressed about this. I have an appointment with my doc today. I am nervous and a little scared. What would cause all of this pain and swelling this far along in recovery? I am as swollen right now as when I came home from the hospital the first day! Has anybody else gone through this?

I am 11 months post op and I feel great also. I am on a very low dose of Premarin and also Effexor. I am happy not to have the heavy bleeding anymore. My belly seems to have gotten bigger the last month. I exercise at a gym and thought I was doing so good, but seems like I am gaining all in my stomach. I feel good overall though. One thing I have noticed is NO desire for sex. How are you all with this issue?

10 months post op

Hi-
My surgery was 2/3/04....It's been a long tough road to feeling like "me" again. I see on this site many women say "best thing I ever did" etc....Well, I cannot ever imagine saying that. Physically I feel fine but mentally...I am still in "mourning". How can I ever be HAPPY about not having a uterus and not ever being able to have more children? I was 38 at the time of my surgery and desperately wanted another child with my "new" husband. So...perhaps one day I will be one of those who encourages others to go thru with it...but, I'm just not there yet.

Hi Again:
My prayers are with those of you who have not reached a good place yet. Mine is a good story but my heart goes out to some of you who are still having problems. Take care and stay tough you will be there to someday.

God Bless!

10 months post op sisters how are you doing

I will be 10 months post op on tomorrow. Boy, it when by like a blur! I feel pretty good most days. I STILL have swelly belly. It comes and goes just like it would if I was actually having a period. I still have PMDD for which I am taking Sarafem but hey, at least I don't bleed. THANK THE LORD IN HEAVEN!! It's been a long, tough road to recovery but I can look back and remember all that I have gone through and smile because I'll never have to experience another horrible, dreadful period again.

One think that I have noticed is that my personality has changed, for the better. I noticed that I am much more outspoken about things that I would otherwise hold my tongue about and much more mellow about things that used to really irk me. I have done a lot of growing up in the past year and I am thankful for that.

I guess I will never have a flat stomach again so I'd just better keep buying those "pretty" panty girdles and big bloomers and be happy.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!

10 months post op sisters how are you doing

I am 9 months post op and felt better the first couple of months than I do now. I have pain on my right side most of the time and cramping in my pelvic area first thing in the morning when I wake up, everything is as sore as it was early in my recovry especially if my bladder is full, and when i urinate I have pain in my pelvis. I have IBS and diverticulosis which I didn't have before the hysterectomy and I have been taking advil regularly, I was off all pain meds early in my recovery. I also have been getting swelly belly more now than I did in the begining. I was supposed to see my gyn, but she will no longer be on my insurance as of Jan, so I have to wait to see what insurance we have, and who is in network, so right now I can't see a doc until my ins. changes over. Hopefully soon I will feel better again. On the positive side my sex life is alot better and my libido is very high and the orgasms are much better also.
